This popped up on eBay earlier at £0.01 starting - it's now £620 after 7 hours
I'd have gone to £50 as I'm really interested in just how good (or bad) the smol HDi can be with the fake Badermatic?

More doors means less money.

Mk2's are easier to convert to 2 Dr than MK1 ones  ( as the frt wings & roof/pillars are different on MK1)  only need doors rear wing/ B pillars so rust free ones still fetch decent money to the rally brigade.

PHWOAR! That's lovely. I wonder if getting bits for the diesel motor is difficult? Is it a V6?

It's a very Autoshite spec although far too tidy really.

MK2 cavalier based ,4cyl , rockauto is your friend re parts.

Never mind potato cam, this vendor has (impressively) used a brush to take a photo of the sills

Isn't that a 14lb sledge that he's about to use instead of a toffee hammer to prove* how well welded the sills are?

I think that's a Minx MkVII. Rootes superficially updated their cars annually. Last year of the old flathead engine - top speed was about 70 mph and  0–60 mph in 35 seconds.

Didn't even know you could get them with that engine and that high spec. Wonder how much adding a Sat Nav to that would have been back in 2002.

I used to have a 2.2 auto convertible, really good engine and box combo for wafting around on a summers day.

Bit of a random one I thought people on here might be interested in, but I searched my number plate on Google the other day, as sometimes it brings up photos people have taken at shows etc. and this post popped up in the results. I've never seen this photo of the car before! I had very little info on where it came from really before now. This guy sold it to someone else, who had started some work on it, but he then put it up for sale for a while before I got it.

Was off the road since 1997, stored in a barn somewhere most of that time. Pretty straight car considering but had to weld up both sills, passenger jacking point, inner wing, and various other bits. All mechanical stuff completely refreshed, new brake/fuel lines throughout, suspension, ball joints etc. etc. It was a fair amount of work.

Put an MX-5 VVT engine and 5 speed box in it, with full MX-5 loom, now on ITBs, and I gave it a full respray last month as the paint was not good. Been my daily for just over a year now, absolutely adore this car

Anyway, just thought people on here might like seeing what became of a car that was posted, it was cool to see those photos of it, so thanks for posting it up here all that time ago, I've been chatting to the guy who sold it. Sadly he doesn't have much more info on it's history, but cool all the same.
