You probably havent seen too many bull nose trannys with the space for the bigger engine.
I expect you are thinking it should look like this:

I'm of an age where the longer bonnet was very familiar to me. It's the back that looked wrong, I was expecting it to be more like this one.

That's quite an early one. It still blows my tiny mind these are now more than 20 years old.

I think we'll have that feeling for many cars very soon. The controversial exterior and interior design now makes it age much slower, who would have thought!

It's off it's closely related mechanical cousin - an early 70s Simca 1100 .

I think the bed is from an American F150 or something like that

Nope some were available with that pressed steel bed pretty rare on UK models , only seemed to be on swb versions .

Most often with the demountable camper  body

PotS is the second half of the Calculus Affair story.  It's good, but there aren't many vehicles in it (unless you count llamas) - Hergé was fantastic at drawing vehicles.

This is probably my second favourite Tintin scene:

Then of course there's this classic final panel from Red Sea Sharks:

Too late too late will be the cry, when the man with the bargains has passed you by.

Under offer. And what a lovely thing.
