Considering the previous owners were unable to sell it at £2000 the last six times they listed it on ebay, it seems unlikely someone is gonna stump up four and a half large for the same car. The only person I know who has actually run these as 'cars' before reckons if you could get it for under a grand it would be worthwhile. Knowing all that, it's STILL tempting because you'd have to be a soulless cretin not to want to drive a Flavia

Absolutely.  A brilliant car to drive.  The problem is getting it to the state where you can.

So after a house move I stared at this bloody thing for two years and I stuck it on the Facebook members group as a last chance saloon and it was gone for 400 quid in a day.

Clearly the guy has seen it up close and realised it's a shitbox and wants nothing to do with it. Although I am saddened as he owned a body shop and I thought that would be the place for its best chance of survival.

 

 

He's taken the autoshite sticker out of the back window.

He’s just the usual bottom feeding type. List it on eBay starting at what you’ve paid for it having done basically nothing to it and hope for ££££

Five grand for one of these Covin kit cars that use either a Volkswagen Fastback engine or (if my memory serves) a 1600 Escort engine?

As genuine Porsches like this seem to be worth more than Amazon’s weekly turnover, this could be a hoot to keep in ropey condition

I messaged him to say it had the timing belt done when I had  and he he’d planted to turn it into van .

They didn’t come well rust protected from the factory a lot of it wasn’t even painted.

If it had lived in Grays, chances are the supplying dealer may well have been Tony Levoi who had a Renault dealership in Southend Road, Grays (where Fatha_Outlaw bought his R6) or maybe CP Smith in Hadleigh (fatha_outlaw bought his R12 from here as Levoi's sales manager was an arse)

No, it's availability of the rear brake discs. They're just unobtainable. I think there was a long-running thread a few years ago when a shiter was trying to get his 30 back on the road, but was defeated by the absence of any availability of rear discs. I'm not even sure if there's any to be had in Europe.

20s don't have the same problem, as they are disc front / drum rear.

Not sure that's wise, given the greater power of the 30, but it might be the only option unless there are rear discs from other cars that could be adapted....

If you're not driving it any faster then it won't make a difference. I doubt that many Renault 30s are doing track days!

Random Googling suggests that a few even went as far as having Porsche engines and running gear installed. That must have been a giggle.

A boy round the corner from me has one of those amongst other good stuff like a mk 1 Cortina with a V8.  His brother has a 300ZX with proper 90s mods that I lust after.
