I love these but the v8's would give a Concorde a run for it's money fuel consumption wise.

Family friend used to have the 6.9 version of this. He thought it was ok on fuel until he replaced it with a 4.6lt Range Rover. Not the most fuel efficient but it made him realise how bad the merc was!

Allegro 3 modified, reclining seats 1.3 Cooper Engine

z.thumb.jpg.f27273974833a54902ac9710bbc723a7.jpg

"Allegro Series 3, ex show winning car. With some regret I am selling this but being realistic I have far too many projects on the go and this will never get done.

Car needs small amount of welding, boot floor and wing top as shown in pics. Car runs and stops. Most things work on the car. New drive shaft inner and outer CV joint boots fitted both sides during the shutdown. All brakes checked and freed off. Paint is not brilliant; roof has some crazing and there are some different shades on panels. Car was originally nautilus blue.

Fitted with an A plus 1275 Cooper engine and gearbox, reworked Stage 2 head and tubular exhaust manifold. Logbook still says 998cc! It was running on fuel injection, and petrol tank has been modified for high pressure pump. Pump is with car but obviously not fitted. This was tested on rolling road and produced 73.5 bhp with a top speed of 116 mph!

Reclining seats and split rear seat have been fitted professionally as shown in the pictures. No idea what they are from originally. Door panels and dash have been recovered in yellow and black.

Fox wheels and low profile tyres fitted. These are a bit too wide at the back and rub on the rebound strap. Spare wheel is a recently powder coated steel wheel. Quartic steering wheel fitted. Exhaust needs additional mounts fitting, it moves too much and hits body intermittently."

He's done 12 arty shots but none that show the car up close. No interior, no engine bay. He's basically done his own calender.

Still would though.

I watched one of those being raced at Foxhall about twelve years ago. Never seen anything lay rubber out of the pit gate the way that did, it took ages for the smoke to blow away and sounded absolutely fantastic.

now usually these would not be something that i would look at ,but this poor old thing has taken my eye.

there is a bit of a boris test left on it, and there is a replacement for the busted back light included which are nice.....

BUT its had the cat pinched out of  the exhaust, SO,  it wants a new one, possibly all  of it, from the manifold back.

assuming, of course, that you can still get one! cos, lest fact it, there isn't going to be any of these in a scrap yard!

and its a shame cos the car is nice and clean, and has only done 48k with a very clean mot history.

so, any one feel lucky, well, do you punk?

Perhaps a Tasman/Kimberley or ADO17 donor could be handy?

The Kimberley/Tasman is the same as an ADO17 when it comes to engine bay design, both are quite different from a Maxi as I understand.

@sloth raised a good point, that a Morris 1500/Nomad would be a suitable donor as it shares the transverse E Series platform with the Maxi.

this was once a really nice little corsa.

until some dipstick got hold of it! queue yellow springs, silly steering wheel, and so on

the red brake calipers must add 5hp to it, maybe even more....Image may contain: car and outdoor

clean sounding mot history though, and the vendor has the original wheels and seats.

What's wrong with it? It hasn't been lowered to a stupid setting, the wheels are OEM Vauxhall, and the car looks just right. Are all modifications wrong? I'd say this qualifies for the odd time where the mods aren't devaluing the car.

It seems I'm evolving (regressing) into a boxy Volvo licker. Is there a support group?

Looks like the cats are eBayable, depending on how much damage the scrotes have done.

After starting that thread on them... you know you're obliged to.

Is this going to become another tradition? Like when we all tag eddy when we find a Bedford CF, we'll tag you when we find a 1007.
