Bugger me sideways, it's a Comprex!!  One day one of these will come up that isn't both completely fucked and on the other side of the world.

For all the supercharging tech that Mazda poured into the 626 Comprex - and it was a lot  - they still only got 75hp out of it, and dog slow into the bargain. Interesting dead end, though.

....and as long as the ANC hold the reins of power, the Rand is likely to devalue even further.

Pile in now.

It looks very similar to the one dugong / alcyonecorporation wanted to buy from Buckie / Cullen area a couple of years ago. He was enlisting me to pick him up from Aberdeen airport, then it sold. :D

It's not unlikely that it moved all of about 40-50 miles in the intervening time.

If anyone is really interested in this Mazda comprex then i can assist with storage, lending tools and sucking of teeth.  It's close to me and an easy trip over back roads to a pre-booked MOT.

Was kind of half tempted and then read it was only 75hp which is the same as my Isuzu cavalier so while interesting seems kind of pointless.

I get the feeling that Mazda just wanted to show that it could be done, even if it was a technological dead-end. A sort of motoring Don Quixote, tilting at a windmill.

It's the same car. I see the seller, who got very angry about me asking about the corrosion on the body, still hasn't fixed the CV.

It needs to be saved, but probably by a Scottish shiter.

No it's not perfect, because that's not cool American surface rust & patina, that's proper old fashioned English rot & it needs sorting out properly because it looks shit and it will kill the car.

Yeah, I'm all for DNP as a general philosophy but in that case I would be giving that one a full, but sensitive, resto. The interior doesn't need much except a clean, but the body would have to be totally done. I'd paint it grey just like this stunning early Alpine I drove a couple of years ago, and surprisingly enjoyed (part of the reason I bought a Sceptre was how nice I found all the Rootes switchgear in this).

Not loads of money really, considering its rarity.

Is it bad that I don’t wan t to show this to my Dad, because I know he’d instantly buy it ?

Hes always loved Harrington Alpines, but he’s already got a TR4 and S1:Land Rover  in France plus an SLK, Audi A4 and modern Defender in this country. Plus his house in France isn’t finished and he’s 76 this year, I don’t see him ever getting the benefit of the Alpine after spending a lot of time and money.

Shit, when did I become the voice of reason when it comes to cars?

That is lovely, although I prefer them without the big fins. I thought I was behind one a while ago (pale metallic green) it turned out to be an AC Aceca.
