These Galant Sapporos are apparently excellent, and so rare that I struggled even to find a photo of one for that ‘forgotten fast cars’ thread a while ago. I’d be really quite tempted if I hadn’t just bought a Honda.

 

I’ve driven one of the less sporting variants and it was by far the most comfortable thing ever. God knows why I didn’t buy it; it was in great nick and only cost about £300. But I was twentysomething and stupid so I bought a fucked Scirocco instead.

That Galant is being sold by Neil Philpotts, a thoroughly decent bloke by all accounts who's been around Mitsubishis and raced them for donkeys years.

 

He's pretty local to me, so I can always go over and have a look for anyone.

But as previously suggested, knows hit stuff & wouldn't appear to sell shit.

He works the pants off his Straion at the local prom stages, and his lads just started in a Micra too.

 

Anyway about the car, looks a solid and comfy old thing.

I do own a Galant Saporro like the one Junkman posted, but mine has a borked engine, and thankfully standard suspension.

It's the single cam 4-pot 4g64 2.4l … If anyone knows where I can get either a complete engine or a bottom end, give me a shout.

Am in dialogue with the seller. Spears and reapers because of shit bodywork and poor interior. Blokey took it in P/EX and has only driven it 5 miles. Have asked to view it on Saturday (earliest I can get over in daylight hours because work shit), assuming it hasn't be snapped up by then.

 

If the engine is good who gives a fart what it looks like inside and out - it's a first year 220 Coupe in Polynesian Turquoise, that's good enough for me....
