Check this out, I would LOVE to buy this, then get my mate to slowly drive around a few estates near where I live while I stand in the back ‘auctioning’ the houses. Get a few more mates to follow behind me on foot, bidding for stuff. See if anyone comes out to ask WTF is going on.

That early blue Cav is seriously tasty. If I hadn't just submitted my tax return, I suspect I'd be suffering from a serious case of flutter finger. As it is, I stupidly gave much money to a bunch of incompetent twats. Arse.

Cheers for the Train info Dave. I can't make it up until the weekend anyway so I dunno what the chances of it still being around by then are.

I wonder if that Cav actually is a 130? I thought all the mkII Cavalier cabs came as 1.6 or 1.8's. If it is then what a waste. I used to spaff myself unconscious over the 130 back in the 80's it was my dream car of choice back when 130bhp and fuel injection seemed like an exotic combination.

I'm not feeling that Orion personally Cort, the smashed steering cowling, stickers and wheels, missing door rubbers and the RS seats just shout abused to me.

You could be right trig but the rest of it looks quite clean. It's probably been a giffer mobile until recently when all of ^ that's happened to it so it.

Worth a look at 500 quid I recon.

I just looked it up on the DVLA and it says three owners keeper last changed 31/08/2012, before that 06/04/2011 possibly the original owner?

It does look like your typical case of a lovely well looked after car getting into the wrong hands and then abused, this comment would get my back up too, he can't even be arsed to clean it!.

quick sale needed as no space when the new car arrives needs a good clean inside and out

That is one of my pet hates. At least it's clean in the photos some of the adverts you see the car looks like it's been mopped down using to big handfulls of horse shit.

If you can't even be arsed cleaning it for the for sale pictures what else couldn't you be arsed to do?

Re the Onion - I've train/cycled to Knockhill on a Sunday (Inverkeithing rather than Dunfermline-that was the Sunday service back in '88) from the Dumbarton area so it's really a piece of piss to get to.

That mk2 Cavalier - it's either a very, very, very early 1st facelift CD or a phase 1 CD with the later front-end - the engine bay will give it away. Servo in front of the passenger, it's a phase 1: servo in front of the driver, and it's utterly fucking mightily rare at that age...

I don't think they did make a 130 cabriolet, my money is on it being (originally) a 1.8i lump. They were superb engines especially when coupled with c/r SRi gearbox (F18, or something like that) as the gearing was fab.

It needs a drivers window as of yesturday as I locked the keys in the car whilst taking the photos for this advert!!!

:D:D That had me loling my plums off!

I just DVLA'd it and it came back "CAVALIER 1.8 CABRIO" so unless they've put a 130 motor in it they're talking out their flange hole.

This looks fun to drive, the suspension reminds me of that from the Warthog on Halo

I have a spare 875cc Imp engine we could lob in the back of that. That would be MEGA! and would still be quicker than Volksy's Audi 100.

No, they are proper 6 Speed Units! At the time these were launched they must have been one of the smallest capacity cars available with a 6 speed box at a time when 6 speed boxes weren't so common.

I was not sure, despite it being old and before I had even heard of a 6 speed gearbox in a normal car, I did wonder how anyone could make such a mistake, even in 'Brwatfurt innit' hence the tentative "?" at the end of the comment. Just as well I did that eh?

I think that Fiat beat them slightly with the Mk1 Punto 6speed. But IIRC they only were on sale for a couple of years.

A canal barge is quicker than my Audi 100.

Honda Shuttle 4x4s have a 6 speed 'box, but first gear is an ultra low ratio for off roading.

You could fit a 6 speed gearbox. However since it appears to have French military markings. that would have to be 1 forward speed and 5 reverse.

'most of the hard work is done'

All it needs now is the body fixing on, half the pissing engine, some wiring, a log book, some kind of VIC check, body parts, steering, throttle, seats and handlebars. 1/115.
