I accidentally owned one of these once, it came as part of a complicated swap deal when I was selling a juke-box, luckily I sold it to someone even more around the twist than I am, who had it in their living room to sit in to watch tv and play on the games console.

Those R8 Tourers were my 2nd favourite Rover of the 90's ( after 2.7 Vitesse) if they'd made a factory turbo it'd be at the top of the list. Nice to see an old Rover getting bids of more than a couple of hundred quid too.

Cheap little Proton for spares or repairs.

The only exterior damage is the loss of the front badge on the bonnet which was stolen

 

What kind of man would steal a bonnet badge off a Proton???

I'll just add this to tonight's tally of fast Rovers, these used to rev like a bastard and felt like proper hot hatches. They always felt quicker than 2/420s , don't know if the figures backed that up though.
