Bloody hell that's nice.  I've been in these, they are lovely.  Predictably, MrsR, who was perfectly happy with my 79 Cadillac, doesn't like these Lincolns as they are too big and square.  Wimmin!

When I wanted to buy one of those, it was the first time ever, that Ms. Junkman protested.

She hails from the Canadian part of the UK, where these cars apparently are viewed as terminal giffer ware, senile department, obnoxious old git branch.

So I had to buy a 560 SEL instead.

Wimmin.

That rather fit R12 with MOT until next July?

£606 or so - that's a bloody bargain...

I'd love to see one of these with an R5 Turbo engine in it.  ;-)

I walk past this chaps place twice a day. He's got a couple of minis on the bay at the moment too. All his stuff comes from auctions and gets a quick do over before selling on. He's got a pretty nice looking white XJS on the drive at the moment which looks just like Simon Templar's off of Return of the Saint. Except for the auction detail still penned in the windscreen of course.

Some late plate madness going on there ^^

Escorts were available from the dealer on an X plate, they were sold alongside the Focus for a bit. Presumably to avoid a Sierra-style boycott by the older generation? Apparently the last of the line were built by trainee Jag assemblers so are actually nicely glued together.

Escort vans carried on further, I've seen an 02.

Price si the only possible reason I could think of for choosing one of them over a Focus

Someone at Ford must have remembered launching the "radical" Sierra, dropping the Cortina the same day, and watching lots of their target audience wander off to the Vauxhall dealer. The focus was pretty bizarre looking in 1999.

Renault always do it. The 5 and Clio were side by side for ages, same with the facelift Clio - they just moved the numberplate to the bumper of the old one and targeted it at stoodents whilst real citizens had the new model.
