andy18s
Someone at Ford must have remembered launching the "radical" Sierra, dropping the Cortina the same day, and watching lots of their target audience wander off to the Vauxhall dealer. The focus was pretty bizarre looking in 1999. Even moreso when you know that the Mazda 323f was originally due to be released as the Mk1 Focus untill someone high up in Ford bottled it and gave it to Mazda, who Ford had a massive stake in at the time
holbeck
Main reason for the continuation of the Escort alongside the Focus, was to keep the wheels turning inside the Halewood plant until the start of Jaguar X-type production. In fact, production of the Escort estate was actually moved to Halewood from Germany at this time. The same thing had happened with the Fiesta Classic that was produced at Valencia for the 96 model year until the Ka went into production there a year later

EssDeeWon
Escorts were available from the dealer on an X plate, they were sold alongside the Focus for a bit. Presumably to avoid a Sierra-style boycott by the older generation? Apparently the last of the line were built by trainee Jag assemblers so are actually nicely glued together. Escort vans carried on further, I've seen an 02. That just goes to prove how much notice I take of Escorts! rml2345

Pillock
Orion looks laughable but is 100% 1990s fashion and if the (quite well written) advert is to be believed, has some credentials. Looks better in the magazine photos.
