I think I would question the quality of the work! But you are probably right

Or the provenance of the engine?

That's really cool. Starting bid of £100 as well, got to be worth a cheeky low ball just in case nobody else wants to sit on it for another 15 years avoiding starting the project. I wonder if it comes with all the glass.

That's fantastic. What a find. I reckon it's the orange car in this press photo.

It is in your Manor, go on you know it makes sense.

All I need is the time, space, skillz and motivation! Seriously though, hope someone saves it. Shame it's likely been left under a tarp for years.

Having a Google after seeing the pic you posted but not being able to see the reg, I found this pic:

spacer.png

It shows as registered around the right time, keeper change in 2019. It would be cool if it is indeed that one.

I'm incredibly tempted to have a cheeky bid on it even though it's not at all what I need right now, I've already got too many stalled projects. But it just has that allure of a majestic* unicorn.

If anything is missing it will be a nightmare to find.

A missing front or rear screen would be pretty upsetting I reckon, or any of the glass for that matter. At least more durable items may possibly be obtainable from Australia at great expense.

I've only ever seen one in the flesh once, it was at the 2014 BMC Gaydon Show.

That's an M57, which in principle is one of the strongest engines out there. N57 however is a liability (fuel pumps and snapped timing chains are the big ones)

Naturally enough, these can have problems (gearbox and turbos), but the engine itself is very tough

Thanks. I re-read the advert and yes it's an M57. Why did BMW have to make it so confusing?

How would 'box trouble manifest itself?

It has a module that needs 'coding' to the car to make park sensor, tailgate work. What is the deal with this, do I need £1000 specialist equipment or £100 and a laptop?

It's alphabetical order - N generation follows M generation. That said, I don't know why it goes from N to B. But the N47 and 57 were introduced to replace the M47 and 57

I guess similar to most others. It's a ZF 6HP so early indication might be that it's detecting some gear ratios are incorrect. That will mean it's failing. Physically, stuff like flared changes or burnt fluid.

I don't know about the module - I'm not a BMW expert to be honest. I just know a bit about the engines and gearboxes at this generation because I have a BMW of this era!

It's a real shame that that P76 is in such a state, didn't look bad in these pictures... although they're from 20 years ago. Chassis number one, aswell.

I messaged the seller and sadly it would appear to be missing the front and rear glass. I've placed a bid anyway whilst telling myself that I'm sure* Pilkington will be able to make the glass up at the appropriate time, but I won't hold my breath on having to go West with the trailer next week as I'm hoping certain someone will want it more than I do. TBH from the state of it in the advert pics I would think that it's possibly destined for a future that involves an oval...

Brand new* white goods motoring. A 2015 Dacia Sandero for £1495

What's the snag? Crank sensor code, which a new sensor has not resolved. Might be the pick-up if you're lucky, more likely a fucked chain though

Edit - belt not chain on these actually. Maybe less disastrous 🤔
