This looks like a decent effort for £650, TD4 Auto, long MOT and amazingly is still 4x4

As much MOT as my 205 and £50 less.

That's suspiciously cheap. It's almost tempting though, just because.

I have absolutely no need nor want for a Freelander but the temptation to just try one out is strong, particularly at that price.

It might only be £650 to buy, but also £585 to tax!  Which possibly has an influence on the asking price.

Woof!

I thought being a diesel might help to mitigate things at least a little bit, but it seems the auto box is doing its best to piss all the power and economy up the wall.

I fell into a link hole and found this:

Which are really good if remember correctly. I worked with a lad once who said he put a spark plug into the exhaust manifold? I can't remember why but I remember being confused.

Seller seems to be concerned around the appropriateness of the carpets but not the god awful wheels

I had one of those about 15 years ago - paid £350 for it as it wasn't running right.  A service and a set of proper plugs got it running smoothly but it had an overboost problem that I didn't have the knowledge to sort at the time so I moved it on.  Fantastic little thing to drive though.

I recently watched a couple of rounds of the 1998 BTCC and well. Brilliant innit. So here are some cars you can buy to pretend to be a racing driver in:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203792934966?hash=item2f73016836:g:2T0AAOSw3x9h55fW

Gooner in the correct colour. Also has "sport" in the name so probably gaps most anything.

How about an S40?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255201678772?hash=item3b6b3495b4:g:o1kAAOSw8zhh2p1m

I know nothing about these cars aside from the fact this shape is surprisingly aerodynamic.

Prefer your touring cars to come from Japan? Here's an Accord in proper "dull as dishwater" greys

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165068274017?hash=item266ed5f961:g:fBQAAOSwtuBhNyXm

1996accord.thumb.jpg.d2c36ffb06c92ed4033065160ce0a67f.jpg

Fun fact about the A4, they switched to front wheel drive from 4wd in 1998. Made them faster too I seem to remember but someone can weigh in if they have more info. Red cars are faster too. Simple fact of life.

It would seem that P11 Primera's are thin on the ground. I could only find this rather old advert for an automatic example. No GT's that I could find while trying to entertain myself in this aerodynamics lecture

My personal favourite, the 406, seem to have also all dissappeared. Have a diesel one which has never let the P/O down. Nice to have something to cuddle up to on a dark night.

I think this one will be the most popular, also Nigel Mansell drove one for a few races. This one is pretty nice if rather spendy.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114806914888?hash=item1abb067f48:g:ScYAAOSwPVlgnjCa

mondeo99.thumb.jpg.eca438e57fecefe06272b3b71df6d2bc.jpg

And finally, the Vectra. This one is a GSI (correct) a saoon and not a hatch (also correct) but is the tiniest bit crispy. Also its many coins.

And i'm done. If you have alternates please hit me up. I have more lectures later...

I think the first place I ever saw one of these was on one of those "Motorsport madness!!!!!!11!!ONE!" VHS tapes with loads of crashes in. Loads of these got binned in amateur rallies and I have wanted one ever since.

Funnily enough I did. Good spot

Bicycles, cars, they're all wheeled transportation devices...

I bought one of those for Mrs 95 a few years ago, from Newark auctions, took it home, perfect... went to tax, on ebay the same night

I’ve just worked out that I’m covering 20,000 miles a year, I should probably sack off the RAV4 at its 45mpg and get one of these at 60+ mpg

3 door is slightly more interesting than the 5 door and the 1.4 diesel can be cheaply mapped to 120bhp.  But by Christ silver paint does nothing for it🙁

Must admit that's a new one on me, always believed these had the 2.0l as a minimum.

Looks a really decent car, got I know had a pez one and his dad too, reckons they were seriously unbreakable.

The Toyota garage he used had one in after a major incident and it was still running but scrap only.

They did a "5th gear" job on it and drained all the oil out too see how long it would still run for, I think it was the full 10hr day, switched off, restarted the next day and ran out of fuel first!!!

Agree totally boring but very reliable.

Once I move some shit on I may consider one of these

I think I posted a Vectra SRI on here a wee while back, only done 45k allegedly and is a little crispy at the rear arch but otherwise good. In a proper colour too, red.

Describing rust as "traditional corrosion" is really a fantastic marketing ploy.

"This car has all the structural rigidity of a freshly used wank-sock!" "Yes sir, as is tradition"
