Does anyone else remember that hire company where their entire fleet was yellow, and often estates, and always elderly?  Yeah.  That.

from the ridiculous to the sublime.

X308 Daimler super-8.

i'll bet it goes like something possessed.

s-l1600.jpg

and been a Daimler, it got the plah in the back.....

They do.

Had one in for repair years ago and it was rapid but you do need to wind it up a bit but then it lifts its skirt and off it goes.

Proper comfy/wafty.

Economy obviously horiffic but that's really not the point of such a vehicle!!!!

" it was Mot'd unitl November 2018, so how bad can it be? "

Ha.  Hahahahahahahahaha.

Had one of these too, albeit a slightly later one with the Phaser 90 engine.  Drove it back from Wales to Norfolk.  It took a while, as I recall.

I've had a crush on 206 RGs for ages now. I did actually consider buying that one before my Xantia appeared.

My uncle had an Opel Rekord van back in the day, same colour. Ireland seemed to sell well for car based vans; the motor tax structure really encouraged their purchase, cheaper motor tax.

Citroen for a long time sold panel car based vans in Ireland. There was a BX and an Xsara van sold there.

As you probably well know yourself, just about anything was available as a van here back in the day. I'd say the Peugeot 205 was probably most common, an XRAD van was king of the road for 18-24 year old lads...like this one:

Which can be yours....for six grand.

Having discovered that Peugeot 206s are good fun to drive, I keep finding myself looking for one with a bit more go than my 1.1  Hence finding this (hope it's not a re-post)

Blimey, this is really appealing for some reason. I like anything with green carpets. I would definitely buy that if I had £500 to my name...

Reminds me of when my old man was selling an mg metropolis turbot. One of the questions he got asked was if it had 'all of its turbos'. I think he replied with a yes, obvs.

Ironic really because we'd counted 3 cars it had been made out of...

News report here

Looks like the company behind it was dissolved a long time ago.

As opposed to having all 4 of its forward gears?

I always like to think the generation 1 BINI is the spiritual successor to the metro turdo.

Both of which have gearboxes not quite good enough, suspension parts that wear out for fun and a British Leyland approach to wiring.
