HMC Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I’m feeling nostalgia for those times where an aspirational purchase was a car with a rear wiper optioned. Skizzer, privatewire, BorniteIdentity and 4 others 7
Skizzer Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 That’s lovely, excellent purchase. The five door ones are much prettier than the three door ones (except the GTI) and it’s great to see a petrol one surviving. Even the dents are very characterful. 17 minutes ago, Jim Bell said: It's pretty base. An XR but that doesn't mean anything. No PAS, keep fit windows, but it DOES have working central locking and a rear wiper. These went GL, GR, GT didn’t they? So mid-range. Or XL, XR, XT if differently doored, and not counting endless special editions in gaudy colours with an unwelcome sunroof and some tawdry stickers evoking package holiday destinations. I seem to remember a Bulgin article in CAR in which he borrowed a 205 XRAD and had to go away and look up what such a bizarre model name meant. He translated it as ‘quite posh Diesel van.’ Jim Bell, Coprolalia, Fabergé Greggs and 3 others 5 1
Dick Cheeseburger Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 That's lovely. Mega low previous owners too! Blatantly been loved over the years. Weird dents though - how can a car look so clean and tidy whilst looking like an elephant has given it a few gentle love nudges?
Jim Bell Posted June 15, 2020 Author Posted June 15, 2020 No idea. Clumsyness? Two genuine owners then @AlsoMike and me. It's mad tidy inside but I don't think anyone has ever wiped it over with a wet cloth. Dick Cheeseburger 1
Stinkwheel Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I do like a nice 205. And that’s a nice one. Jim Bell 1

somewhatfoolish Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 What a lovely interior. Nice and safe* having the choonz mounted where you can adjust them without* taking your eyes off the road.

Skizzer Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 We’re switching to South Africa now, to interview some more real people about what concerns them in these difficult times. This is Ryan. Ryan, you’re a Hammerkop Bird, am I right? Yiss Skizz, thet’s correct, I em. Howzit. And tell us about what’s troubling you, Ryan. Well Skizz, two things. I’m worried about all the prejudice and intolerance in the world. My friend Shona, who’s a Secretary Bird even though that name has connotations of sexist stereotypes, is getting trolled on Insta because of her ‘funny walk’ and people are saying she deserves to be eaten by a Harpy Eagle. That’s like, really wrong. That must be very difficult for you and Shona, Ryan. What’s the second thing that’s troubling you? Well, it’s this bloke. I heard he’s bought a small French hatchback and I’m bloody terrified he’s going to bash out the dents with my head. The Moog, Jim Bell, Cookiesouwest and 13 others 8 8
Fumbler Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Ooo a GR. Very nice. There's one near me that's beige through and through. 1 hour ago, UltraWomble said: Your knob is cracked. I suggest some Novoglan I suggest this: Jim Bell 1
AlsoMike Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 First time this wee beastie has been out of Lincolnshire i think, it has led a sheltered life. And deffo the furthest its been driven in one go in years, so i doff my cap. May it convey you in a suitably gallic fashion. Good to meet you man, pleased it didnt expire on the A1. If you're going to leave Lincolnshire, you might as well leave it properly. It was great dancing between the wagons on the big road. It's an unusually decent 5th gear cruiser given its a 32 year old hatchback. BorniteIdentity and Skizzer 2

Jim Bell Posted June 16, 2020 Author Posted June 16, 2020 Gavin. Is there anything bothering you perticularly Gavin? "As a Shoebill Bird, I have been the target of hate and derision since I was but a chick. They call me clog-face, they call be boot-nose. That's not my name. Thats not my name. I hope that in the future, people can be better educated about the differences in life, so that we may all better co-exist in tolerance under a canopy of mutual respect." Careful though. bramz7 Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 My first 205 had a cheap aftermarket knob that would rotate as you changed gear. Not irritating at all. Nice buy! I love the blue tinted dash. Dashboards don't have enough colour these days. BorniteIdentity, Skizzer and Jim Bell 1 1 1

You can get the replica replacements on eBay now at a reasonable rate but the fits not the best. I dunno why Peugeot didn't just fucking thread the lever like normal car companies. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293148949832 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254602073621 Etc
