JJ0063 Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 2006 ‘56’ Mini Cooper ConvertibleChilli Pack1.6 PetrolMOT until 02/01/2020117000 miles 17” alloysElectric roofElectric windowsXenon headlightsHalf leather heated seatsRemote lockingFactory fitted CD player with AUX inputRear parking sensors Bad points:Passenger side front tyre has a slow punctureThere are a few small areas of lacquer peelPassenger heated seat is faulty - has burnt a couple of small holes as per pic, haven’t used heated part as to not make it worse. Owned the car for a year and had no issues at all. Comes with lots of paperwork, there is a receipt for a new clutch and gear linkage amongst other bits and pieces from the previous owner. Had a brake pipe and CV joint for its MOT in January. Personalised number plate not included, has been removed and original ‘56 has now been refitted. Genuine reason for sale, looking to get a bigger car. Walk around video: https://youtu.be/s4emLtHHnd8 oldcars and Fat_Pirate 2
loserone Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 I quite like these. I don't have £1800, or a need for a can with only two viable seats, but GLWS. P.S. awaiting input that fwd french cars with narrow wheels are better for steep driveways than a 4x4 pick up thing Scruffy Bodger, djimbob and JJ0063 3
JJ0063 Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 I quite like these. I don't have £1800, or a need for a can with only two viable seats, but GLWS. P.S. awaiting input that fwd french cars with narrow wheels are better for steep driveways than a 4x4 pick up thing I love driving them, we've had this nearly a year and had the last one for probably 4 years IIRC. Great cars. The rear seats are exactly the same as the hardtop so it does have 4 seats but no Mini is designed for a family I don't think! It's really just an excuse I think, she wants a truck of some description and I quite like the idea of it so not going to stop her! She also lugs a lot of stuff about as she does craft fairs.. she's always using my car as a cabriolet boot isn't particularly practical if I'm honest. Still, it's great. Someone buy it please.
SmokinWaffle Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 My only gripe with these is with the roof down it sort of looks like you're taking a carpet to the tip... motorpunk, JJ0063, Ohdearme and 2 others 5
SiC Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Any history of the chain being replaced on this? IIRC this is the second generation Mini and has the Prince engine? My MiL maybe interested in this - depending on if they can afford it.
chaseracer Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 P.S. awaiting input that fwd french cars with narrow wheels are better for steep driveways than a 4x4 pick up thing What Amber really wants is a 205 diesel... JJ0063 and loserone 2

My MiL maybe interested in this - depending on if they can afford it.I don't have any history of the chain being replaced although I'm fairly sure it's a Tritec, not a Prince engine? It's the standard 1.6 N/A. This is an R52 (Cabriolet version of the original R50)
JJ0063 Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 What Amber really wants is a 205 diesel... That'd be my choice! loserone and chaseracer 2
Ghosty Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Prince engine came in on 07.This is a late first gen Mini.

This is an R52 (Cabriolet version of the original R50) I'm no expert but that looks to be the first gen and older (better) Tritec engine. I'll pass it onto them. JJ0063 1

somewhatfoolish Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 We've moved house in the last few months and now live in a rural area and our driveway is quite steep so Amber has decided to sell the Mini and get a 4x4. Location: Norfolk Does not compute. egg, Dave_Q, abelw44 and 2 others 5
Aston Martin Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 My only gripe with these is that the aerial is in a stupid place.
Kiltox Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Looks tidy. Wrong gearbox for me to be interested in it but surely it’ll be easy to sell
Marm Toastsmith Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Wrong gearbox for me to be interested in it but surely it’ll be easy to sell Is this a manual? JJ0063 1
JJ0063 Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 Where is the lacquer peel and how bad is it?I can’t actually remember! I’ll give it a wash and get some pics. Rear bumper and passenger door rings a bell? Is this a manual? It’s a manual and has the best (reliable) gearbox too! SiC 1
pandamonium Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Love it, this is the one I wanted but ended up with the hardtop r56. Which was shit. Pity my funds stretch to a 27 year old Toyota and the coins in my wallet... JJ0063 1
Fat_Pirate Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 These first-gens are ace. JJ, your old Bini now lives with my neighbour - he's fixed all the minor blemishes and cleans it every week, he loves it. It still looks far more modern than his wife's new i30. JJ0063 1
JJ0063 Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 That’s good to hear FP! Had this cleaned this morning.. will get detailed pics ASAP. MOT Tuesday.
JJ0063 Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 Failed its MOT on a split CV boot and a brake pipe - will be sorted in the next week or so and will therefore have 12 months MOT. Tam 1
JJ0063 Posted December 28, 2018 Author Posted December 28, 2018 MOT done. Expires 02/01/2020 - New CV boot and new brake pipe. Only advisories are 1 tyre and little reserve travel in the handbrake. I'll probably get round to replacing both front tyres in the next couple of weeks. Keen on a TD4 Freelander if anyone wants a deal. LightBulbFun 1
Peter C Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Keen on a TD4 Freelander if anyone wants a deal. For your sake I hope nobody buys the Bini. Lacquer Peel and JJ0063 2

JJ0063 Posted December 28, 2018 Author Posted December 28, 2018 Haha, love the responses! She's got her heart set on one now & I think after quite a few years of Mini ownership she's fancying a change.. come on, don't discourage her inner AS! Lacquer Peel and Dick Cheeseburger 2

Keen on a TD4 Freelander if anyone wants a deal. ohh thats weird to see 2020 as an actual date, in my mind its still 300 years into the future! (but how does that work? I thought MOTs are exactly 1 year so should it not expire on the 28 of Dec 2019?) also MOT spanning 3* years? congrats on the pass JJ0063 1
Wingz123 Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Can MOT a vehicle up to 28 days early and if it passes the difference is added to 12 months therefore in theory you could actually have 13 months mot on a car... His probably originally ran out some point in January and has MOT’d it early... LightBulbFun and JJ0063 2
flat4alfa Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 You don't mention the plate it will be getting. A 56 I presume this was on?
