What Shite Did You Take Your New Born Home In?

Recommended Posts

Obviously, it's important to start your offspring's shite credentials off as soon as possible. After all, they'll be on here sooner or later contributing to a thread titled "What was the first car you ever went in?".

Here's one to start the ball rolling, the 1988 Dodge Caravan that Claim_Jr had the pleasure of being taken home in back in 2007.

Jag XJ6 which I had just bought for the princely sum of £3K in 2011. Basically the new arrival was in the new arrival.

Me 635. Spent all day getting it ready and waiting for ‘the call’. Done pink ribbons on it like on those wedding cars and filled it with pink balloons. Got a couple of pictures somewhere among the 75billion jpegs on my other laptop. I’ll dig em out...

EDIT: Ooh, I surprise myself.. here they are, with the rather shaky 'collection' shot (I was so excited!)

My other daughter was collectshioned in a Peugeot 107, not very inspiring that is, until you finds out that it was the first 107 released into the wild in Essex... apparently... for about a day...

New mums and their babies were routinely kept in hospital for a week back then so I had time for car buying between delivery and collection and I bought a SaaB 99 for the collection day.

To go with all this new parental responsibility I responsibly got it from the SaaB dealership, with a warranty!, and then insured it fully comp.

Much criticism came my way for buying a 2 door. Justifiably so.

But there was no way I'd have bought one of those more-door 99s, just so untidy to behold. Priorities.

My wife is currently pregnant with our first, so I guess I'll have an update in a few months' time...

Kinda boring really - MK V Escort. J598 GFB.

Although on the way to Airedale Hospital (from Haworth) some chavs starting racing us (thinking we were just out for a hoon). Pregnant girlfriend - “FUCKING FLOOR IT”. Naturally, I complied. Sure we got there in no time.

Was a lovely drive back from hospital though. Great sunny day. She’s 15 now and utterly unimpressed by my vehicular choices, as her mum (and husband) drive, primarily, brand new VWs. Meh.

1994 Mercedes E220. Lovely car.

February 2012, we had a lot of snow, but the Mercedes coped well with it, and I ended up helping nurses and doctors push their cars into the car park, as they had more modern German cars with wide garden roller tyres and couldn't move!

It was November 1982. I had a Chevette HS at he time and was in the middle of rebuilding the engine when the first born arrived. So, she came home in my Father in laws 1.6 Capri, -  black with flames painted all over the front,, a straight through sidwinder exhaust and big General grabber tyres on the rear to complete the look.  :-D

K Peugeot 205 and then N reg Fiat Punto.

I got carved up by a chav in a boy racer escort the first time so he got the finger - not a good idea with a newborn in the car when he then tried to force me off the road. Fortunately the missus was still in the hospital and was coming home later so saw none of it.

My boy came home in style, in my W123 230E. That was almost nine years ago and I still have both although one has cost me a lot more than the other.

The first arrived in 2004 and came home in a 1989 Fiat Tipo. The other two were born at home.

Great question.

My first born was in an Opel Kadett (Chevette type) in 1991.

My second was a Nissan Almera Tino, in 2013.

If I can extend my answer slightly, I myself was brought home in a Minivan, converted to an estate.

I have no children but 41 years ago I think I was brought home in my parents' 1974 (M) Cortina 1600 XL estate (signal red with RoStyle Wheels). B)

It completed a nice trilogy of first rides in our family - my sister came home in a Mk1 Consul and I made my first jaunt in a V8 Pilot.

I bought my dream Mk1 MR2 and 2 weeks later the Mrs announced she had been fertilized, I hung on to it right up to the wire before I sold it and was getting desperate as she went a week over, one Sat I ended up buying a Mazda 323f , few hours later she started having contractions so I threw her in the back with her mum and screamed off to the hospital, she says half way there " I think my waters have broken " her mum then says " I think mine have gone too as my arse is wet"   Bastard Mazda had a big leak from the rear lights so the back seat was wringing wet  :-D
