There is a car which is tall, thin and pale blue with thick screen pillars, fourth in from the left, on the row nearest to the shop. The other is a turquoise colour, possibly with a white roof, to the far right of the photo, just in front of a tree with reddish leaves... lesapandre and egg 2

I dont think so, the car 4th from the left looks a bit large, but I can see why you might think it, but as you have spotted, the Model 70 is in the far right (I mean could be a Model 67! but its likely a 70) lesapandre 1

I'm not sure what he's done to upset them, but he's been shown the door, twice... or perhaps he's just a very cool hippy? lesapandre and egg 2

LightBulbFun Posted September 24, 2023 Author Posted September 24, 2023 @st185cs had an early start at OhSoRetro today and grabbed this really awesome picture and for me a pair of Spax STY228 G82AZ Rear shocks for a Model 70 arrived yesterday I dont think REV needs new shocks ( @red5 what do you think? ) , but I spotted them on ebay and no one was bidding so I just lobbed a bid on them at the end managed to grab them! I figured cant hurt to have in the parts stash so to speak the F14T12 I put there for size comparison, have to say, I have never been up close and personal with a shock absorber before now, they are hefty buggers! not sure what I was expecting but they heavier then whatever it was that I was expecting I notice also one has been compressed down, thats not something I did just is how it is, hopefully its fine? I did check with the seller but this was all he had sadly, I was hoping he might have some STY197 G81AZ shock-coil-overs, thats the front shock absorber for a Model 70, and is also compatible with the Acedes Mk15 Model 67/ AC Electric Invalid Tricycle Model 64 Mk5, and Invacar Mk12E Model 66, because all of those use Model 70 front suspension but alas not just these pair of rears lesapandre, Remspoor, Dick Cheeseburger and 2 others 5

That was the very Invacar which used to scare me with its styling and engine note when I was a pup in the early 1980s 😮 Harnet Motor Carriage in Harnet Street was the 'upmarket' arm of the dodgy local Ford main dealer Malcolm Waite, which then and now has premises scattered all over the town. It was a Lancia dealer until the mid 1980s and has been for many years an extension of the Ford side of MW's business empire, although it dabbled in Volvo sales and servicing very briefly in the 1990s. The Empire aka the 'Flea Pit' is the town's small but perfectly formed cinema, which opened in the 1930s. The gas might have escaped from the compressed damper, try compressing the other one and see if it returns. Under the yellow tape there are adjusters for adjusting the damping.

I compressed the other one and it does not return either, they dont compress or decompress easily tho I mean the action is smooth, but you really do have to either tug on it quite hard to get it to extend (ahem) or put a fair bit of weight on one to compress it not sure whats normal for these...

That sounds perfectly normal. It's a hydraulic damper which contains a gas cell IIRC so the damper itself isn't pressurised. If you turn the adjusting screw you will find it clicks around and you can alter the resistance, clockwise for harder. I wonder how interchangeable they are with stock Fiat 126 dampers?
