Simon and I are still having trouble registering RDE 346

no evidence, no registration

im using Flo anyway, I know it’s illegal but I don’t care, lock me up and throw away the key….  My main concern is that I can’t get insurance which is not fair on the third parties….. I drive carefully and slowly

Guarantee you’d have something to say if a local youth bought something they couldn’t insure and said they’re just going to drive it anyway because they drive slowly and carefully.

Also guarantee you’d have something to say if you or your family were hit by someone driving any type of vehicle and they had no insurance.

Ok now the DVLA have made it personal!

at least it gives me a properly valid reason to call them about this issue now...

I just hope I can get through to someone sensiable about it, the DVLA does not exactly have an IT department hot line sadly, (I dont think?)

compared to before, which is how it should be

Screenshot 2022-09-25 at 11.12.38.png

of of all the manufacturers coded into the DVLA computer why is it Invacar they have to fuck up... (after also originally fucking up AC into AC (ELECTRIC) back in the late 80s)

Expand

Sounds like it would be easier just to accept its an Invacare now. Better brand with superior build quality. If the DVLA done similar with my Dacia and renamed it a Bentley Duster i'd be delighted

Driving an unregistered vehicle without the tax/MOT exemptions in place, without 3rd party cover, dare I wonder if you even have a license 😬

No, RDE 346 was first registered in 1953 by Florence (Flo) Day MBE…. The DVLA is trying to erase history and I’m fighting them all the way… Meanwhile, I refuse to be housebound.

Please let me know the date and time you expect to say that in court. I'll be there to witness the laughter....

Can i suggest if you are able to drive and steer that thing......

Are you genuinely trying to pull that one as your excuse?

Blaming DVLA for the fact you have no choice but to drive a vehicle with no tax, not registered as MOT exempt, no insurance and not displaying registration plates?

I don’t think even LBF will take your side on this one..

So you had PLI then? What would you have done if your float* front wheel clipped the legs of the people you were following because your vision was impaired because of your helmet*?

I've seen some dumb shit on here but boasting about breaking the law, posting pictorial evidence to prove it and then continually providing more details in an attempt to justify it is a new low.

Nice one @brummiejon🤣🤣🤣

I mean, when you're that deep in a hole of being completely fucked if you get caught, He's pretty much at the point where even if he did have a license, He wouldn't for long, especially if they look over the 'unroadworthy' vehicle and start finding any issues to accumulate bonus points.

Notwithstanding that boasting about it is foolhardy, he's not exactly the first or worst offender at self incrimination here or on other forums. There but for the grace of FSM go I.

I can appreciate your frustration, @brummiejon, at not being able to get 'Flo' registered and so risking driving her, albeit carefully, on the public roads. However, I'd also be concerned about the fact that if the rozzers do get wind you have no insurance whilst driving, 'Flo' can be seized and crushed. Is that really worth the risk, nevermind anything else?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see her out and about, but legally.

I’ve decided to take everybody’s views and go back to riding my electric bicycle that will do 30miles per hour, has woefully inadequate brakes and frighteningly quick acceleration but doesn’t need tax, mot or insurance and is just as much capable of “killing a child” but it’s legal and will keep you all happy…

An unregistered electric bike that can do 30mph by electric power alone is also illegal, you ignorant cunt.

If the electric motor is more than 250w, or it can be powered electrically at more than 15.5mph, or it can be propelled without pedalling (a throttle control of some kind), then what you have there is a motorcycle and it must be registered as such, and taxed/Mot'd/Insured as such, and you must have the appropriate license for it to use it on the road. Its probably a moped, legally speaking - but might be an A1 motorcycle.

Like electric scooters, the shop can sell it perfectly legally but you ,absolutely, cannot ride it legally on the road without all of the above being in place.

Obey the law, like everyone else has to. Arsehole.

While I agree with the consensus here, I reckon LBF could do without another shitstorm on his thread.

Vaguely related, just back from the Netherlands and saw quite a few ebikes and scooters that were registered as mopeds.

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/666204465273539/

As the Dutch have this concept of a Light Moped (<50cc, <25kmh) already it looks like some (far from all) of these electro deathtraps we see on UK streets are registered on a blue moped plate. (Lots of them probably exceed 25kmh but that's the case for the petrol ones too)

I even saw a Trek pedal assist push iron with a yellow ped plate (heavy moped, 45kmh) presumably this is to be legit with a pedal assist speed greater than 25kmh or it has a throttle or something.

The Dutch fuzz do check moped speeds and prohibit pisstakers until their speed limiter is rectified.

We don't have such provisions over here but it just shows it is possible to give a route to register these new types of electric personal transport.
