LightBulbFun Posted November 7 Author Posted November 7 BTW as a general heads up, I have noticed sadly that the DVLA's 1st party checker, seems to now hide *all* vehicle records that have a scarpped marker against them, regardless of if its just an old style scrapped marker or a CoD, previoulsy only vehicles with a CoD would no longer show up in the DVLA's 1st party checker, but now I have noticed it seems that any vehicle with any sort of scrapped marker for example EPH399J an AC Acedes Mk15 Model 67, which was marked scrapped on the 20th of November 1979, (so long before any sort of CoD was a thing!) now comes up as Vehicle details could not be found I have to say this is a really not a nice thing! as it means that someone who is trying to research a vehicle, wants to know for example when their family Morris Marina or such was last taxed/on the road, can now no longer do so if it was marked scrapped, it will just incorrectly show as "vehicle details could not be found" even if it survived well into the 1990's or 2000's for example SPU145M no longer shows up when it once did and in general its quite "1984" to just claim that vehicle details could not be found, when they damn well do exist on the DVLA computer! (I already did not agree with the fact that cars that where CoD'ed, vanishing from the main site for the same reasons, but its even worse now they are doing it to historic records) 500tops, lesapandre, egg and 2 others 1 4

reb Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I'm not sure it's all vehicles with a scrapped marker, because I've just checked some of my old cars which I know have been scrapped and they're still showing up. egg and JJ0063 1 1
beko1987 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Same, my blue laguna still comes up And I've got the slip of paper from the dvla and the receipt from asm from when I had it (what was left of it) put down... lesapandre 1

chadders Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I've just checked 2 and got the same result as you guys.
LightBulbFun Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 are you checking with the DVLA's vehicle enquiry services, or the DVSA's check-mot services? because @beko1987 is, and I am wondering if everyone else is as well those 2 checkers are completely independent from each other, and the DVSA only queries the DVLA's database for the raw data, to the point that the DVSA has its own make and model code lookup table, which is why for example a Model 70 on the DVLA will incorrectly report back as "INVACARE" but it will still correctly report back as "INVACAR" on the MOT checker, since the DVSA have thankfully not fucked up their own lookup table at least because of this, vehicles, even vehicles with a CoD will still show up on the MOT checker thankfully, but if you try and of the vehicles in the DVLA 1st party vehicle enquiery service checker, you will see that as above they dont show up sadly even ones that would of shown up until recently Split_Pin and beko1987 1 1

In my specific example asm are a vehicle recyclers so not everything through the doors is marked as scrap. Anything I bring in does though, because it's too old for them to want 😂 So I guess your questions of 'was a cod actually issued' is valid, although asm have a seperate queue in the reception for straight scrap I could look using my api key thing and see which dB that pulls from again but I'm sick of looking at my work laptop and database tables now so that won't happen this week! Given the details it'd be the still working mot dB wouldn't it. For how long though... LightBulbFun 1

I've never been able to get a record for it,wondered if your systems might find it? looks like it either never survived to computerisation, or was computerised in the 1970's but never made it past 1983 and thus was archived off the DVLA's main computer system (a fair few years back, the DVLA took many vehicle records that where tax due/otherwise inactive from before 1983, and archived them all to save computer space) lesapandre 1

plasticvandan Posted November 8 Posted November 8 TOC was a Regal Supervan that my dad taught himself to drive in on his bike licence in 1979,as at £50 it was cheaper than driving lessons, formerly used by an antique dealer of all things it was very knackered at only 9 years old, doesn't look like it made it to computerisation, interestingly although presumably scrapped the minor van he had afterwards.did show up as last taxed.1983. High Jetter 1
lesapandre Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Well they made the Minor van up to '73 - and I bet a few were registed in 74. The Post Office might have stockpiled them.
auntiemaryscanary Posted November 9 Posted November 9 @LightBulbFun have you got any any tiller controlled jaunts planned for this weekend? Are you pleased with all the work done by shitters (various)? I'm asking as I'm living vicariously through you.
