I am kinda wishing I had installed a hidden camera somewhere now, both to see Duncans reactions to just driving her for the first time, but also to see how quickly he gets fed up with being inundated with questions from the public about it!, an Invacar is much like a DeLorean in that regard, complete with funky doors! so I hope he is mentally prepared for that!

but on a more serious note, it genuinely is awesome to see REV out and about and I hope Duncan is getting the hang of things and starting to enjoy himself pottering about in REV :) 

Bloody hell, that's just amazing.Brought a tear to my glass eye.What fantastic progress in such a short time.

The day to day running about is what will iron out a lot of silly niggles so hopefully when you get it back it will largely just be maintainance and fun things like polishing to do

indeed I have it :) its also a close reletive of this one HHJ12N "thats not what I meant when I asked if someone could give me a push!" (not that you can bump start a Model 70 anyhow)

Is that from one of the Motoring Which? tests possibly?   Odd though, because the typeface looks older than the photo.

The reg is tantilisingly close there! Lbf can you enhance it at all to make it out? 

That land-rover reminds me of my 109 I had with a Harvey Frost winch on it before I passed my test 😂 Was probably as common a sight as an rac/aa van is now on the road once

Yes, Dollywobbler made a video a few years ago of taking TWC round Goodwood on a trackday.

a fair few have been around a few courses/circuits, :) as above @dollywobbler took TWC round Goodwood which you can see in detail here :)

as well as some in period at silver stone, even TJN352R has been around silverstone :) (TJN352R being Marion Webb's Model 70, not only notable as she was the very last ministry Model 70 user, but she was married to Dennis Webb who was REV's owner/user for 15 years)

to that end I do wonder if the Model 70 in the last picture might well be REV herself?  I wonder that because one of REV's "things" is in all the time I have had her, she has always had a lean to the right

if you follow the straight edge of the trailer you can see what I mean, as well there is a visible difference in wheel arch gap side to side, I am told its nothing more then a slightly saggy spring, so nothing to worry about AFAIK?

however if you look at the 2nd picture, it almost does look like the Model 70 in that shot does also have a similar lean on, so I do wonder if that might actually be REV herself? :) or am I just looking into things too much! (I dont know if Marion and Dennis ever swapped cars or if Dennis also got a chance to lap the circuit!)

well this was a very pleasant surprise!

mum heads off to work, but then shortly after leaving facetime's me to show/tell me about some Routemasters that had pulled up on the road outside, so after a brief chat with the lead driver, a very kind chap by the name of Peter brown, Secretary of the London bus museum (which created a fun bit of initial confusion, because I still think of that museum as the Cobham bus museum!)

so eventually I head down their myself (as mum had to leave for work) and we spent a good 45 minutes nattering away about Routemasters and the such like :) 

 

extra fun was had when the 3rd bus arrived and created utter traffic chaos :) (since the road was already quite narrow after they added cycle lanes to it back in the pandemic)

it was fun to see 2 of the first Prototype 24 RML's together, and separately from that the the middle bus was RML2331 for those wondering

I have to give thanks to Peter for putting up with me, I do get quite self conscious that I am being yet another bus nerd! something I am sure he has to deal with on a regular basis! I did of course work the conversation round to Invacars and lightbulbs at several points! Hopefully he found that in itself interesting as something different then the usual bus talk :) 

 

 

all in all again a very present surprise, its not very often the Routemasters come to me rather then me going to the Routemasters!

HPG334K I *think* although  it really is quite fuzzy,  however I am pretty sure its certainly part of the HPG251K-HPG450K block of AC Model 70's :) 

 

I still remember fondly when I found out you had that Land Rover 109 as one of if not your first car? that was like learning the sedate geography teacher actually had an aggressive military background and was into heavy punk rock :) 

(I mean in that, your car choices on the Autoshite spectrum are fairly safe choices if that makes sense, firmly the safe-bangernomic side of thing rather then the bonkers side of thing, so to learn that you had a relatively bonkers car so early on was like "whoa" :)

More news on Flo's progress.... I really should not be so excited about my success at rebuilding the High/Low power switch.... There must be something wrong with me to lavish so much time, effort and money on a vehicle that I can't drive legally.... I have satisfaction that the Argson electric is fully restored...

sweet! it is really awesome to see an Argson get some proper TLC like those, most tend to fall into a state of disrepair or electrical  bodgery  of some kind or another, because well a lot of people cant do electrics at the best of times, let alone with its core to a vehicles function where it literally is *all* electric :)

It's been a massive learning curve for me, much of these big mechanical electrical power train skills have already been lost.. I'd really love to see the power controllers on some very early electric cars.

Just put Flo in a weighbridge..... unladen weight of an Argson Electric with a full set of batteries is 310 kg or 683 lbs ...

interesting! thats something a few of us have been wondering about, just how much does a fully laden Argson weigh! :) 

 have you also done a weighing without the batteries?, it would be interesting to see the difference, also be interesting from a legal POV since the 254kg is an unladen weight limit, and electric vehicles are only considered unladen when their batteries are *not* installed, I am pretty positive all Argson's are below that 254Kg weight limit when unladen without batteries, but it would still be interesting to see :) 

this is why if you look at the logbook of any properly registered invalid vehicle, Argson, Invacar Mk12 or AC Model 70, the weight is explicitly given as an unladen weight

Each battery is 24.1 kg and there are 6 of them, so I make that 165.4 kg without batteries

Just a thought... the built in battery charger would add some more weight and I've removed it... better weigh the charger and add it to the unladen (without batteries) figure.

Charger weighs 16kg, so that leaves the unladen weight (without batteries). 165 + 16 = 181 kg
