Hi everyone!!

I signed up here a while back but never got around to posting.  I'm a good friend of @grizz of this parish with a similarly eclectic taste in cars and activities.

Current beasts of burden that might qualify to grace these pages are:

  1. 52 plate ML55 is poor cosmetic condition, but oh so nice to drive.
  2. 51 plate Audi A4 Avant (actually my son's, but living with me for the time being)
  3. Y- reg Micra - used as a family spare, currently with my son at Uni. (acquired from @grizz)
  4. 04 plate Nissan Terrano.  Was SWMBO's but needs to be shifted as she got something newer from a friend due to ULEZ changes
  5. Mk1 Golf Clipper - my son's project, but not making progress just now...

I (we) also have some other toys that are either much older or have less wheels, not sure they qualify...

welcome aboard

Are you an AA member or RAC? 😄

Welcome to the jungle.  I hope the BMW is a 635CSi or a 3.0 CSL. 😊

Sadly not a “classic “ however the hateful beast gave me an arse chenching moment tonight when the electric steering failed to steer.

I feel I will fit in here with my collection. One in storage and two very much work in progress ‘projects’!

1. 1988 Project Peugeot 205 Junior 1.0. 57k miles.

2. 1992 Project Proton 1.3 GLS saloon. 36k miles.

3. 2001 RenaultSport Clio Phase 1 172 (also in storage). 115k miles.

However, with a wedding coming up and the future Mrs wondering why I need 3 cars plus a daily driver, the Proton will be going to a new home at some point in the near future.
My 36k Fiat Cinquecento Sporting in Monza Blue already found a new home, but the ‘need’ to have just one stored and one project is clear.

So hello, greetings and all that shite,

Hopefully you’ll follow my uneasy plight,

Tears and tantrums will all be found here,

But the surely the community will lend a soothing ear!

Hiya all!! :)

I've been floating around as a "guest" for some time now, finally got round to actually registering!

My currently fleet:

1989 SEAT Ibiza 903cc special (My absolute pride and joy)

1998 Suzuki Swift GLS in bright green (a little belter)

2007 Saab 9-3 turbo aero (currently SORN and for sale)

As my name states, I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with SEAT's, well anything produced between 1970-2000 if the truth be told. Non of my family or friends understand lol. My dream car is without doubt a right hand drive SEAT Malaga or a Sao Penza. I'm hoping I'll fit in well here lol.

Here's my Ibiza   😍

Welcome @SEATMadfrom a fellow 021A owner.

Quite a few old SEAT lickers on here.   I've only owned mine for a few years.

Agree with you about the Málaga, but I  think that swappage and the British weather killed all the RHD ones.

A rather rare 1.7 Sport line has just surfaced again on Facebook, and another System Porsche engined car has just been offered for sale there too.

Love your wheels by the way.

Cheers for the welcome! :)

I believe I spotted your Ibiza last year in Swindon J16 services!

Are you a member of the MK1 Ibiza group on FB? I haven't seen that 1.7 Sport line! that's exceedingly rare! Is the one for sale the 1987 E reg project? I've been tempted by that one!

Hi all! Many thanks for letting me join le forum!

My name is Abir, I've been a autoshite viewer/reader for quite a while but decided to take the plunge and join! With some assistance and spirtual guidance by the wonderful @beko1987!

I live in London, and have a quite short but consistently terribly car history (all 21st century, soz)

Screenshot_20240205_232359_Gallery.thumb.jpg.c0468f0db0910432e0720899f23aec88.jpg

The first on the list is a 2002 Toyota Corolla. I got this from a relative who owned it from 2006 to 2020 for free! She had replaced it with a 2014 Audi A6 which she ran in tandem with the Corolla, which ironically was nicked 3 months after she gave me it. I was owner no.2 on the logbook (strangely) and I loved it! I did car sharing and my co-driver was a park by touch ah that'll buff out sort of person. It went in July 2022, and was driven for the next 7-8 months by its new owner with no regard for checking the oil. It blew up 3 weeks after its mot...

What succeeded the Corolla was a 2011 Vauxhall Astra! (forgive me)

Screenshot_20240205_232413_Gallery.thumb.jpg.575d44145d6fc54a33ba65981be24d6d.jpg

This was Vauxhall personified, it ate batteries, snapped a coil spring, popped bulbs, cracked its coolant tank, crapped its thermostat, suffered from shared crap driver syndrome and I can't remember getting 1 month of pure reliance out of it...but credit where credits due, when it was all happy it was a good little thing! Until the rev counter died for about 30 minutes, that was fun...

Unfortunately it was written off, poor thing ended up on its roof - no injuries but it was sent to the great scrapheap in the sky...

And now we're in the present, with a 2013 BMW 116i.

Screenshot_20240205_232445_Gallery.thumb.jpg.dd86f291ce2c966cdf056ae5316a84b3.jpg

My first car of pure independence, it was a decent price and thought why not, you only live once! Its been alright - bar a dodgy fuel relay which we'll gloss over and the fear of the fuel gauge not being right and keeping at a quarter tank as a minimum. As I am writing this, it sailed through an MOT after negotiations with the on strike horn and all is well! Hasn't exploded yet either or been crashed into so its a big win for me...

Anywho that's me - I look forward to my time here and hope to learn much more about the world of underappreciated vehicles!

Yes if it was the Costa/ Greggs one that probably was me on the way to a car show.  It's a very convenient meeting place except for no public loos!

Somebody posted their VIN plate up yesterday, which turns out to be this red sport line, closely related to the blue sport line snapped and presumably now gone from a few years ago.

IMO, Specials are where it's at!  Share some interior shots please.

Aaah yes I recall seeing that post now, The guy has had it for a long time I believe and not much has changed with it! Might give the guy a message and see what the deal is with it!

Many thanks! Only I could go from a notoriously reliable Japanese car to a notorious British/German/Polish car with a reputation, to a notorious German car with a boring reputation! Will look forward to exposing my BMW woes on the modern section once I get there xD

Welcome from a former RHD Malaga owner (a very long time ago sadly).  That Ibiza is fantastic - the only way it could be any better is if it were a Disco.  Are there even any of those left?

Thank you! I’m very jealous that you owned one once apon a time! Without doubt my dream car (as silly as that sounds) 😂. I’m hoping one appears from the dead one day, I’ll be 100% investing in that!

The Disco is very cool, apparently there’s 2 left SORN so again if one comes up then I’ll try my best to obtain it!

Thank you! I saw the old thread from a few years back now and was gutted to see the original poster hasn't visited for a couple of years. Would love to track that Penza down, its still on a SORN but hasn't been MOT'd since 2020 so im guessing its still around somewhere!
