Hello all. I've been aware of this forum for some years due to Hubley-Nutsworth, but only got around to making an account a few months ago. I then promptly forgot about it until now. Still, here we are.
Like, I suspect, most people on here, I am serial car hoarder/discarder. I've owned 20 cars in half as many years of driving, and still have 5 of them. They are as follows:

1988 Toyota Corolla. Aggressively beige, old man base spec. Picked it up at an auction with only 37000 miles on the clock. Drives almost like a new car. Definitely the most quintessentially shite of my collection. Using it as my current daily, though looking to replace it with a Merc 190D.
IMG_20190503_184533.thumb.jpg.0fc3155d42decf6e8a9e7d66e5508418.jpg

1997 Nissan 180SX. Imported this from Japan myself in 2018 as I noticed S-body prices were going stratospheric. Naturally I went for one of the cheapest I could find. It has, unlike the UK S13, the legendary SR20 engine, though, because I penny-pinched, it is a non-turbo model. Still, it looks the part, has not been modded out the arse, and is totally solid. Super fun to throw around corners. I've set it up for grip and slight understeer, which confuses every male under 30. The headlights go up and down. Definitely a keeper. At some point a turbo installation will happen.

1966 Ford Mustang. Bought this five years ago for absolutely no reason. Had been imported months earlier and the chap who owned it decided he had too many of them (ie, about 10). Originally a poverty spec straight-6 model, has been fully converted to a 289 V8 at some point in the past. Restored semi-competently in Kentucky 15 years ago. Used it as my daily for most of 2016, because I had a short commute and am also a masochist. Great fun to pose in, but cooling system is currently shagged. Contemplate selling it every now and then, but doubt I ever will, it's just too damn cool.

1966 Morris Minor. My most recent acquisition, last September. Completely stock and unremarkable when I got it, improvements are underway, including new wheels (pictured), a full suspension rebuild, a Ford XR3 disc conversion, and finally a 998 Mini Cooper engine build for it, using a 948 block as a base. This is my third Minor, and I bought this on a whim because it is identical to my first, much-loved, Minor that I had at university, and sadly wrote-off in 2013. Time and wisdom will hopefully keep me on the blacktop this time around.

1992 Eunos Roadster/Mazda MX-5. The car I've held onto the longest. Bought back in 2014 after the demise of my first Minor, this is also a JDM car, though it came over back in 2001 when they could be picked up literally by the boatload in Japan for buttons. Extremely well-equipped for its age, drove impeccably, headlights go up and down. Was my only car for a year and a half. In mid 2015 it developed some suspension and rust issues, so I shoved it in my garage and thought, "I'll fix it later". Six years from then, "later" has yet to arrive, but seeing as the prices for mk1 MX-5s have risen greatly in that time, I've decided to keep ahold of it until money and facilities allow me to give it a light restoration.

So that's my current fleet. Each car will no doubt get its own thread as and when I get round to working on them.

Agreed!  Welcome aboard, and whatever you do, don't discard that Corolla!  That must be a FOTU winner, right there!  You should also be within reach of the legendary FOD too, jammy bugger.

Well, if you fancy buying the Corolla, let me know ;). Also, FOD? Foreign Object Damage? Had plenty of that.

FOD = Field Of Dreams.  @Six-cylinder (can be found on these pages) hosts occasional meetings which often cover entire weekends.  As for buying the Corolla, thank you for the offer, but you will soon learn, that's not exactly my style.

I'm sure a tentative for sale thread for the Corolla would be a very popular one if you go down that route.

That is delicious! A sister to my 1990 Liftback, It’s interesting to see how two variations of the same car share absolutely no body panels. Please say it has a matching brown interior.

Caramel brown mate. Only the best in Japanese 80s interiors.

Hello all.

Having lurked and been following a number of the threads for ages, I decided I really should become a member here and contribute.

While my fleet currently consists of a modern and a collection of shite in miniature, it seems inevitable that I will sooner or later acquire some Grade A chod. For unknown reasons I actually miss trying to follow the BOL in attempts to fix things (maybe it's masochism) and always find myself drawn to cars that are a bit different to the norm of moderns.

Maybe if I add my eBay tat finds to the thread instead of to my watchlist it will cure me of my afflictions?

Hello Autoshiters!

I am Chris, aka chris667. I live on the edge of the Peaks.

I know @Sunny JimIRL through another channel. We were walking our dogs together and he mentioned Autoshite. Very much my bag.

I currently own a Romahome, which I have had for a very long time. Might chop it in this year and look for something new (well, old, you know what I mean!).  But then I say that every year.

Here it is:

Well blow me down! Don't go 'angin' yer jib, ye' scallywags.
Avast ye! Any old salt knows that there from the crow's nest ye can see South Hampshire stretches as farr as New Milton in the West, to Haylin' Island in the East, an' as farr as Winchester on the 'eading o' the North star. Savvy?
Be ye the kind o' scurvy dogs lookin' to hornswoggle a fellow buccaneer's booty?

Whatever happened to talk like a pirate day? And why did "where you be" launch me into pirate? Who knows?

Talking of the IOW, I saw Austat's post of the Austin Maxi on the eBay tat thread and was trying to decide if the pictures were taken 20 to 30 years ago.....right up until I realised the pictures were taken on the IOW (probably only a week or so ago).

While living in the past does have its attractions, I'm a mainlander and, before curiosity kills the cats (or sends them to Davey Jones' locker), am between Fareham and Southampton.

Hullo, my name is wheelspin, and I have been a shite car enthusiast since 2016, when I discovered HubNut.

I hope by joining AutoShite, I will be able to share my experiences, and spots, of utter shit box motor vehicles.

Hello! Been lurking for a while, I think Schaefft first mentioned here a few years ago, but I only just got around to signing up. My car history is mostly early 2000s Japanese tat, with the exception of a Polo that I'd prefer not to talk about. My daily driver is a 2005 MR2 Roadster as seen interloping at  FOTU, and seen here next to something much nicer.

 IMG_9604.thumb.jpeg.7670f49e7a0a48c810fc5e8891b18df3.jpegIMG_8796.thumb.jpeg.9111830e4647751f397c6fe710222e6b.jpeg

I've had this one for a year, with many trips planned, but FOTU was the first major trip out instead of just running about locally.  Not my first MR2, I did have a 2002 model before this one that had everything wrong with it. This one is  currently standard, but as it's both drinking and leaking oil from every orifice I have a 2ZZ conversion in the works with an engine from a ratty Corolla 190. Bought as a complete car that the 'clutch slightly slipping' which as it was gumtree meant that getting to 40mph is an achievement.  As it still had a ticket for a few months I swapped a new clutch in- the slippage was caused by a pressure plate spring exploding- and ran it until the MOT was out to check it out. Sold some parts from that so I'm in to it for very little. For peace of mind I stripped the engine down and it's now at the stage of having the bottom end back together. The weekend project is to get the valve stem seals changed and it mostly reassembled. Needs to be finished for a potential Alps Roadtrip in two months.

The second car is one of several Ignis Sports I've had. This one used to belong to my grandmother, who gave up driving a couple of years ago. - I tried to sell it, but got fed up of being messed around. It's not used all that much but I do enjoy driving it when I do.   It's also done a  couple of Targa Rallies in a very amateur fashion .

 119510276_3152272934899022_8779620704372890640_o.thumb.jpg.e7362701f5d5bbedf1b4d57e686004eb.jpg

The major project is a Metro, but not the one which most people think of. It's a 1959 International Metro Mite, which I'm in the very slow process of getting on the road. Much smaller than it appears and surprisingly has a BL link. The original engine was a 1.5l B Series with a manual gearbox,  even at the time was regarded as underpowered. This was dropped after a couple of years and replaced by the international 6 cylinder. It's all parts bin, the rear axle is from a Willys Jeep. Leaf springs all round. This one had already been imported,  but I tracked down where it had been sold in the states, which was from a collectibles shop in Montana.  They are thin on the ground over there, the importer of this one has brought another over and I know of one in the Netherlands.

IMG_0731.thumb.JPG.7062b4534ce987378d595c6d4cd15470.JPG

The engine was seized, and given the reputation of underpower I went a different route. For simplicity of shifting (due to the engine position by  your feet) I wanted a simple, reliable, fairly compact setup with good aftermarket support.

IMG_3140(1).thumb.JPG.e9a45a764912fc18e3317641425651a8.JPG

Yes, this is a silly idea. It's a mildly rotten Eunos that a local breaker had. Off the road for a several  years and nobody wants an auto. Only 60000 miles and ran like a dream. I've made some progress on the body, clearing off old underseal and epoxy coating underneath, but got pretty bored of that so it ended up sitting for a long time. The engine and gearbox are mounted in and fit well, next task is probably build the loom to get things running. The body is mostly straight and rust free but does need  repair in places, the small patches I can tackle, the large panel that had an inch of filler coverings all the dents, not so much. Some people will be annoyed that the patina will be going, but it was bought for a purpose and will be a working vehicle. Needs to be done for next summer, so I must make some progress once the MR2 is done!
