Someone's used to MOTing classic cars that have been kept in a dehumidified storage facility, clearly. He's gonna wear out his "slight corrosion" key.

Posted

I'll bet he was a newly qualified person, scared to get caught out. That or some utterly miserable streak of piss.

Either way, Hurrah!

Ah it all makes sense now :D

Can’t be a tester in the land who won’t advise on rust on a Ka for fear of losing their ticket when it’s inevitibly as rotten as a pear 3 mins after the test and someone gets all “won’t someone think of the children” on them

Posted

MOT sheet makes it seem as if you're trying to get this on the road.

Looks a good one though.

Is the fuel filler neck still present, or at least bodged?

Whats the cause of the hot blower? Had this before with a few ka’s...stuck on hot...is it some sort of switch gone bad?

^ the electrically operated heater valve usually, not uncommon, easy to change aside from skinned knuckles.

That actually looks perfectly decent considering how these normally look when 14 years old. Pray tell how much you managed to wangle this one for? If it’s low enough I will contact Velocity TV Productions and let them know that if they ever get bored of Mike Brewer.....

Sorry, did you just say £40? Forty quid? As in four - zero pounds sterling?

Are you in fact Paul McKenna? Do you hang around car parks waiting for people to wander over to their cars, and say

“Look onto my eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, the eyes, right, you’re under. When I click my fingers, you will be offered a tiny sum for your car which you will accept. Three two one, you’re back in the room”

Just off to call Velocity.....

Loads of people still think you need to pay to have scrap cars removed....

£40. Blimey.

That's nearly two pints in London.

Well boughted. I demand a 1000% profit margin this time around.

Well if it has a fresh MOT and after the Shadow has worked his magic I would think a return of 8-10 times the original stake is well on the cards. Lots of folk would be very happy to part with £500 for one of these as a runaround or first car for the teenage kids.

It seems to be remarkably free of tinworm up top but suspect some close up photos might reveal otherwise. Still stunned at that price, a car for the price of a gallon of Castrol Edge!

Have heard that aftermarket heater valves are variable in quality, not that that matters if you are selling it on (some are less than £15 on Amazon, genuine Ford ones are four times that). Scrapyards might be able to help but as these fail so regularly it might be a job finding one. Car Mechanics have done this very repair, and the internet is full of instructionals and vids covering the fix so you should manage just fine.

Well done for not doing as I'd have done and dropping it straight off at the breakers and cashing in £100.

In the mid eighties we were probably saying similar about Mk1 Escorts and Cortinas...

The rate these things are disappearing I wouldn’t be surprised if they are commanding serious money in 15 years
