They_all_do_that_sir Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Has her own car so what I drive is a non issue provided its not overly shit and its safe for carrying kids. (not talking euroncap levels here, more it has proper seat belts and isn't made of crisp packets) Sent from my F3211 using Tapatalk Joloke 1
nigel bickle Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 None. If the numbers work - it's fine by her. But she does drive an S2000 & a Fiat Coupe 20vt...... robinmasters and Joloke 2
eddyramrod Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Mine draws the line at a hearse, which is a shame as I would rather like one. She's also not keen on my idea of a van (CF or any other). I think she's pretty much got tired of old American cars now too, although she has learned to spot them on telly now. 20 years of being married to me... She does have a major unrequited love for a Golf convertible, but seems to have accepted that being married to me means it will never happen. Joloke 1
andy18s Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 MrsAndy18s here ???? have said I'll divorce him if he ever brings a Maestro/Montego home! puddlethumper, mercrocker, D Spares & Tyres and 3 others 6
Guest Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Mrs Cade doesn't mind anything at all, but has a inexplicable and sometimes quite scary outbursts at 2cv's for some reason, even on TV. Makes driving through rural France a sometimes surprising experience. Not that I've ever felt the need to own one, so not too much of an issue. She is quite partial to an Italian coupe though, having had a few Alfa's and Fiat's.. which is a bonus Joloke and DeeJay 2
carlo Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I don't know about the OH, but my daughter will certainly disown me if I buy another Peugeot 405. robinmasters, Laseraligningfoofooflanges and Joloke 3
chancer Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Pretty much allowed whatever i like as long as she dont have to drive it. Only when theres more than 2 broken cars cluttering up the place do i get the occasional grump. Currently got nothing on the drive and if im honest im in no hurry to take on any more tat. Would love another Mercedes 190 at some point but they are getting expensive now Joloke 1
flat4alfa Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Truth is, Wifey had been great and accommodating for many years. Then I got the Avantime. At the time it was 'I just want something that works', because it was such a jinx. Then after it was sold off at great loss in its broken state, she tends to be on guard and say 'not another thing like last time' Joloke and Kringle 2
Talbot Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Mrs. T could not care less what I drive. She gets a little tetchy if it's horribly unreliable, but she cannot stand my current Merc. Mainly due to the Automatic gearbox and being a bloody enormous old barge. As long as I keep her Berlingo going and she has no need to drive my car, I'm good. Joloke 1
lisbon_road Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 My wife despairs and has basically given up. That's it. She's ok with the Vauxhall Viva as it is just so old that it has respect. But a mk3 Astra as a daily is considered not acceptable. Joloke 1
CanaryinManc Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Mrs. Canary still likes the 1997 Saxo SX we bought at 6 months old. It cost us £6,500! at 6 months old, but over 21 years works out at less than £300 pa depreciation. Just passed another MOT for £200. Has shared the drive with loads of cars in that time. Joloke 1
MarvinsMom Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 kerry has an irrational dislike of the austin allegro. strange, as mostly she shares my love of BL's greatest disasters "hits". Joloke 1
omegod Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Another case of her giving up, she doesn't even look at them now so I can get away with almost anything...tried for a hearse a while back which was a step too far understandably Joloke 1
mercrocker Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I keep trying to tell her..... CanaryinManc, eddyramrod and Laseraligningfoofooflanges 3
Pillock Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 A Volvo. She's specifically said she would take the piss mercilessly if I bought a Volvo. I was looking at a V40 and she was like "LOLNOPE" Which is weird, she's half Scottish and has a traditional Scottish name. Supernaut and cms206 2
MarvinsMom Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Kerry doesn't care for Volvo's either....... very strange.......
Liggle Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 My missus doesn’t care as long as she gets a car she likes! In fact the only car related disagreement we’ve ever had was about me selling a Ford Puma that she absolutely loved
Ian_Fearn Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 So, Mrs DW is my financial common sense. Since I met her, I've managed to avoid financial meltdown. When I was on my own, things were properly scary. If she says 'no,' it's with good reason! So, Mrs Fearn is my financial common sense. Since I met her, I've managed to avoid financial meltdown. Uncle Jimmy Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Bob Marley once erroneously sang 'no woman, no buy', yet he was well known in Trenchtown for his collection of BMC chod.Being single and carefree myself means I am even more likely to buy rusting piles of shit which I spend hours fixing only to sell for even less that I bought them for. Noel Tidybeard Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 MrsAndy18s here ???? have said I'll divorce him if he ever brings a Maestro/Montego home! having had 2 of each that sounds more like a promise rather than a threat

warren t claim Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 A couple of years ago while out with my dearly beloved I happened to see a Dolomite Sprint parked up. I mentioned to her that I'd owned a few of them in the past and they were my prefered buy it, thrash it, kill it, scrap it and buy another for £100 car. She was less than impressed and demanded that I never turn up in another and expect her to ride in it.
Paul Dupart Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Anything with a SKODA badge on it. Shame as I quite fancy a mk1 Superb estate.....
DodgeRover Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Mrs DR says we have no need to buy an American day van for the half a dozen times a year we would need it's carrying capacity. I'll try again after May when I should be able to find something t&T exempted. cms206 and djimbob 2
Des Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Nothing. If she wants to start objecting then it's shanks fucking pony time. mercrocker 1
drivewaymyway Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 As per my Tag name... Driveway is my responsibility so Mrs isn't bothered as long as there isn't too much clutter / Garden Ornaments and it's my money so as long as I can fix it, it stays, if it's too rusty it gets James Browned.. She is more worried about my mental health, I hate it when a motor don't run... I get stressed / depressed easily and work rate drops, if I let the jobs build up I get more depressed and the Catherine wheel gets quicker.... I have been known to stand out in the Garage blubbing under the weight of work...
Zelandeth Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Bedford Y-Series Duple Dominant II... Well...not so much not let me have...more expressed slight concerns about how much it would be encroaching on the patio. Seemed satisfied when I did the measurements and confirmed that the back end might overlap by a couple of feet at the one edge depending where we put the fence out front. Not actually my other half... he's as bad as I am and is about as much use as a voice of reason as a chocolate teapot. Abby however has slightly more interest in making sure we don't look like a house full of complete nutters. Yeah...good luck with that... Haven't been told "no" to the Rolls either...just we agreed as a family that it was an expensive enough proposition that it will be looked at again in a year or two. Not waiting too long though or Silver Spirit prices will have gone mental like Shadows have nowadays for a nice one. Asimo and lisbon_road 2
Roobarb Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 I have a dire need for a 'sheeper' at the moment. I've found a car with the engine and gearbox I want for my project, but am getting a fair (I suppose) objection that spending too much money on something I'm going to break (and have yet another car carcass on the drive for a while) rather than just buying another engine I've found that's about half the power (and half the price) with no carcass attached. Started to have 'the talk' but don't think it went too well... Can't complain as I have three cars (two working) as it is now. But there's always another!
