What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Those of you who have spent time in Norwich in the past may be familiar with a two-tone black-over-white Mk2 Capri auto with the numberplate DOR15 8.  I first spotted it a good 15 years ago, but hadn't seen it in ages and feared it / its elderly owner had disappeared.  Today, though, I passed it parked up on the sea front at Walcott, looking just the same as I remembered it, with just as much stick-on tat as ever.  Didn't get a photo as the eponymous old biddy was sat behind the wheel, but it cheered me right up to see that her and it are still around.

@Cavcraft - One day that cat is going to see all the pictures it's unknowingly posed for and go postal on your ass. It's a simmering volcano, waiting to erupt.

Family outing at the Internal Fire Museum today. It really is an amazing place, even SWMBO was impressed. She had hours of fun playing with the telephone exchange, I did video her but she'll have my arse in parsley if I post it.

Best polytunnel ever.

At Bescot Market this morning sitting having a cup of tea, watching a huge woman berate her tiny husband because he had brokered a deal on a Metro in the car park.

''What are you fucking going to do with that?''

''I liked it''

''We havent got fucking room''

''But I liked it''

'' Well you can drive it home and expect fuck all from me''

''Ok love...''

Class!

Saw the spit of vulg zebantia this morning except lots more dust.

Well, that actually highlights a grin. I have been having serious issues bonding with that car, have had it in my mind to sell it for a while but never really managed it. Then today my brother asked if he could buy it back. Pretty much everything that was an issue while he had it is now fixed and any new problems can be addressed more easily should they appear, which they will because Citroen.

He's far more comfortable driving it than I am and even got the seat in the right place to make gear changes more comfortable. I'm relieved to no longer have the responsibility of a car that was excellent on paper but just never quite what I wanted. Best of all, I've made a profit selling the car back to the person I bought it from which is pretty much unheard of.

Everybody wins!

Wow, that brings back memories! I worked at a factory there but left, as it was counter productive...

D.I. Burnside in the passenger seat is thinking "Stop riding the clutch for fucks sake, woman."

Also have they learned nothing since Diana's accident (no seat-belts). She looks disappointed, as she was hoping to flog it to BV72

Apologies for the portrait format, I was trying to get the machinery in too.

Great stuff. Mrs DW also enjoyed a visit to the exchange earlier this year. In fact, she spent so long in there I thought I'd lost her. Did you get my email by the way?

Does it have a turbo though?

No. Ford now actually* uses the A-Series engine.

Posted

if only it IS an a-series!

with such tiiny-tinny engines, they surely cannot expect them to cover a proper 100k miles before expiring/exploding?

i had 2 ford focuses 1600's drop from under me at 100k, both with pretty spectacular OMGHGF, both had a geyser of steam escaping out of the back of the engines.

now i'll admit, that they were company cars, and i drove 'em like i nicked 'em from day one, and one over heated cos polar ford couldn't be bothered to put any water in it after a service, but i think compared to one of these iddy bitty things that they will have no chance at all of making it much passed the warranty.

is it still only one year on a ford?

Even though the motoring press is well frothy about these little ecoboost motors why do I think they'll all be going pop at 60k?

well let me see, 900-odd cc's, a turbo charger, silly long service intervals and supposedly 125bhp, lugging 1an a half tonnes of car about....WCPGW????

they have at least given the engine a fighting chance, buy using cast iron for the block, but it should also have an iron head not bloody alloy!!

Sack off the aircon and all needless pish and fit one of these ecoboost engines to a mkI Fiesta and see what economical and fun motoring should be like.
