had some useful discussions there- and tbh the post I put up about inappropriate drag cars has bad some good comments from members- so much so that I may have a target time for the Octavia..

Been buying parts for the Mercury from RockAuto in Wisconsin. Prices seem good and the parts arrive in 5 to 7 days as a rule. So far have bought a new light switch wiring loom/connector to replace the burnt out original, then discovered that the heat had damaged the actual switch. Was expecting a new one to cost ££££s as it is a big chunky unit. Pretty good actually, despite postage and shipping. OEM too.

That is impressive re: availability, price and speed of shipping. Makes a mockery of some UK based factors.

Overtaken by a Nissan Juke today, my lass said:

"What is that lump? It looks like one half of a pair of Crocs.."

Made me laff.

Its not worth returning it, ill have the back off and see if i can stick it back together. Still works better than my current one, no stupid slider on off switch that gets knocked to on in my toolbox then drains the £6 for 2 batterys...

Rockauto have yet to fail me for the Galaxie. You have to play mix & match with the warehouse sometimes to minimise the delivery costs but they are generally my first choice for stuff

Passed it's test easily again with the normal advisory on the OSF brake :-)

Edit: decided to check the MOT history and it shows how much the whole test is objective. Stuff mentioned years ago as advisory that I know haven't been don't get noticed or mentioned again

^^ Really? Details please :)

Go to rockauto.co.uk and there is a phone number.......

I ordered a load of bits for my Chevy. Wheel cylinders were £9.52 and £11.74 each against £60 here. Brake linings £11 for axle set (£20 each from UK) and hub seals to replace old felt ones 94p. These were shipped from different US location to UK (heathrow I think) and then sent out. You can also opt to prepay vat which saves getting robbed by Royal Mail.

However they are utter shit if the part is on back order or you need to know anything about interchangeability.

Gyles Brandreth (yeah, that twat who used to be on telly) owes me £100 after a bet I had with the fat, arrogant gobshite a few years ago now. I've just found (and messaged )him on Twitter, what are the chances he won't cough up?

Had a wheel change job earlier on the M25 and the old git driving was a total arse hole moaning about having to wait 45 mins for service.

He was adamant it was a defective tyre that had caused the deflation of his nearly new Pirelli as he was a superb driver and hadn't hit anything in the road.

So i took the wheel off and spun it round to show him this.

Yeah right of course it was a dodgey tyre captain.

A 2014 Volvo V60 wheel and tyre that'll cost. :-D

Modern wheels are so thin now days this reminded me of a cheap Lidl easter egg.

Hilux alloys get worn through by mud/ grit trapped between the rim and the calipers . You would think that a four wheel drive might have more robust wheels but no

I think i posted these before,a 2007 Astra that dropped in to a big hole between the 3rd lane and the central reservation on the M25 near junction 4 Orpington.

To be fair that incident killed the strut and bottom arm too.

The latest purchase is a 51-plate shopping trolley. But is has a proper spunky, feisty soul. A modern car with actual character! Who knew?

The Met office has almost as much computing power as Africa and spends its time turning 30 year predictions into 6 monthlies despite admitting that the weather does what the fuck it wants.

Can they tell me if it will rain at my house at 4 pm next Wednesday?

Can they fuck!

The shouldn't be listened to, it only encourages them.

You live in Scotland, of course it's going to be raining at your house at 4pm on Wednesday. And if it happens to not be raining, wait 5 minutes.

Of course, that is the Autoshite definition of modern. Most folk probably wouldn't agree!
