Matt, I wish I'd kept it but I once got a letter with my name and for the address "Isle of Harris" on it, it got to me.

Simon Stahlenhag's pictures. Some of the most utterly beautiful 'left-field' artwork I've seen. Plenty of bonus shite content too.

Had a few of these on the PC for a while but didn't know the artist! His stuff is amazing. I'd love the Saab one for the living room wall but I suspect SWMBO would have something to say, probably along the lines of "fuck RIGHT off".

Been browsing Auto-raider and just spotted this:

http://www.mikebrewermotors.com/

I didn't realise he had licenced his name to an actual used car dealership.

"Mike Brewer, a name you can trust"

Trust Mike to sell you a bodged up heap with shiny wheels at over-the-odds prices more like. Horrible little man.

I wonder if you can barter with him and have it finished off with "'OLD AAAAAHT YER 'AAAAAAND" :-D

Had a look but I just don't understand twitter. Can't even work out in what order you're meant to read it or who said what to who

I don't get Twitter either. Total mess and something that would have been classed as shite in the 1980s.

I think its mainly used for porn TBH. People follow famous people and sports stars to make it look legit but really just look at pictures of birds with their wabs out.

Son's girlfriend is in hospital at the moment, she texted to say her friend wasn't visiting today as her Granada isn't well....  I'm assuming a typo.

I remember seeing in a 'memoriums' section in a local newspaper, a lovely written eulogy for 'GRANADA'.

Twitter is clumsy to an outside viewer, you have to climb on in and shout at the Twittersphere.  It's easier if you know people on there already to talk to and I have found it handy for selling stuff, for finding other people with shared interests that have helped with various projects and just having a bit of a giggle.  It's not all ladies wobbly bits and gentlemen's dangly bits but like the rest of the internet it's there for the seeing if you want.

I use twitter all the time but almost 100% passively, because it's just really hard to work out a "thread" of a conversation. I've tried to make out what was going on with #fronteragate but I just can't work it out.

Anyway this turned up at work yesterday, from what was supposedly an in service bus, with a note "URGENT, VEHICLE OFF ROAD. Test and report any faults ASAP" suggesting the bloke who sent it in was unsure if it was faulty.

And you know what, it wasn't quite as badly fucked as B7 dashboards usually are, but it had probably been mostly underwater. I don't think that this was the only thing keeping said vehicle off the road.

Fuck it then, I'll sack my account off.

They actually look like a couple of mechanics at local Vauxhall dealership. One reason why I do own repairs.

It'll be a year on Christmas that I lost my very close friend Roland Ortner - which doesn't make me grin.

Roland was a big fan of all things Hot Rod and the culture surrounding these cars.

When I heard, that American pinstriping legend Herb Martinez is going to visit a Hot Rod event in Frankfurt,

I asked him, whether he would be willing to pinstripe Roland's tombstone, since Roland's grave is only a

stone throw from there.

Not only did Herb immediately agree, but he also refused to accept any non-liquid payment for it!

This is the man himself, and the work he did to Roland's grave:

And this makes me grin.

Thanks Herb, you are a gentleman, and a scholar!

It seems inappropriate to click 'like' on a post commemorating an untimely death, but that's such a lovely thing for Herb Martinez to do.

...seems to be a mish mash of some pretty simple people typing bollocks.

Best working definition of Twitter I've heard.

In other news, the Blingo passed its MOT.  With each dent, scratch and passing year, this becomes more and more of a pleasant surprise...  :)

The sad faces at work today as they tried to arrange a buffet with 12 hours notice for a "Christmas Jumper" day despite having 2 months notice at least. The manager had not left any money as he said he would and then buggered off on holiday and the next in charge moaned he'd spent £20.00 - tight git.

I declined to bake any buns - I suspect half the reason they arranged anything in the first place so no Christmas Cheer from me.  :-P

No one else makes or bakes anything so it's a few sausage rolls, those cheap supermarket crisps, weird Polish biscuits and 2 litres of Pepsi Max, lovely.

Too bad.

Just came back from a gig. I had a drink so Mrs_P drove in her diesel Touran. It's midnight so no traffic, she's straightlining all the roundabouts and all the lights are green. Gig was loud so we're not talking much.

I realised what the only thing missing was - so found a Punjabi radio station. There. Perfect taxi vibe! Sadly the EML wasn't on though.

Can't keep up....

Your cat, like all cats, is a dick.

I saw on that Cat Watch a couple of months back (presented by Liz Bonnin but you can't have everything) that all cats have the hunting instinct but they learn how to kill from their mothers. As most cats turn up as kittens it means she didn't get a chance to teach them (if she knew herself) so they catch them and... now what? I know, I'll let it go any catch it again. Oh, where'd it go?

We have 5 stupid cats. I found those pheromone snappy traps do the job quite effectively. I also use a fly swat if I can get to them quickly enough (before they disappear behind a cupboard), I'm not sure if they're dead or just stunned but I don't care once they're outside in the dustbin...

I have my BX back, with a lovely new rebuilt top end (for anyone who missed it: water pump failed, cam belt went 'ping', camshaft broken clean through in 3 places  ). Thanks VERY much to Barry Annells at Bourne Citroen - it did 70 or so miles for Christmas meal round trip very nicely last night and will be pressed into service for seasonal expeditions.

I'm a sentimental old fool, the car would have been worth more in bits, particularly as I have a Hurricane version in storage AND as I was always going to sell it in the New Year - it's silly to have two BXs that are essentially identical apart from the trim when I can *only* have two cars. Will look at sorting that out once seasonal disruptions are over.

Just got Wifeys Fiat back from the body shop. Not cheap but a lovely job of the repair. And the parking dink in the rear quarter was done as a paintless dent repair so well that I cannot see where it originally was.

Happy wife! That alone justifies the repair costs!

Done with work till after Xmas, been a stressful couple of months - whose idea it was to have financial year end at the same time as calendar year end I'll never know...
