Today I decided to go to Aldi for the family weekly shop, rather than my usual mooch round Tesco. It took me a bit longer than usual as I had to accustom myself to the different packaging and whatnot but was mightily pleased when the bill came to £53 instead of the £85 I'm used to for the exact same stuff at Tesco. In fact, I managed to get every single thing on my list, with the exception of Twiglets, so its not like I'm saving money because things I wanted weren't available.

I shall be shopping at Aldi from now on, with projected savings of £1500 a year by doing so. Great success

Going into laaahndan with work, this is what we have for our chariot!

Quick glance of the odometer upon embarkment shows 624k

There's only 10 of us though, seems a bit overkill

Scannies are for fannies. I read that on the back of a Volvo lorry once so it must be true.

Live news from the Raasay ferry, three of the six vehicles on board are Volvos. The ferry itself is brand spanking new, on its first or second day of operation.

New Type R, it looks BOSS

Really hope they've made it actually fun to drive this time after the fairly disappointing previous one.

Doubt anyone will still buy one though  :?

Yeah? I looked up the RRP for my new company vehicle - diesel Astra with windy rear windows, air con but no climate, and 104bhp. Over nineteen grand!

New cars are both shit, and pricey.

It is going to be around 30 grand.30k for a civic.

We make a lot of parts for Honda. The quality they expect is second to none.

Well that's not a bad thing. Where do you work?

30K is the same as the Golf R which has the same power, but the Golf still looks like a Golf and it won't have the Honda insane revving VTEC lump. Plus it'll break down more and fast Japanese things seem good at holding their value. I imagine if they released a normal GTI rival it would just cannibalise the Type S sales

and how, pray tell, are you supposed to see old bill approaching as you ring the last vestige of power out of the "insane revving v-tec"

Rear visibility never bothered Astramax drivers and they were the fastest thing on the road.

Took the Renault for a run today.  It's been stuck behind the stationary Rover for about a fortnight, but it didn't seem at all bothered about it.  The heater is properly fierce - much better than modern shite.  Toasty.

Nearly half the heated rear window elements still work, too.

(Gave the Rover a decent outing too - it's running fine but definitely needs a new battery.)

I went to the nec too. Missed meeting HillmanImp as it was so busy and now I'm proper knackered. I took exactly 0 pictures and bought only some cake. Was still OK though :-)

I went today as well with my free ticket. I know why I haven't bothered for the last few years it is just too crowded. The bit that made me laugh was listening to a twat salesman talking to a punter about a near 60k Jensen 541. The punter asks if it is the same engine as the healey 3000. To which sales twat agrees. Strange that as they were 4 litre and used the engine out of the princess hearse. I can't believe that someone would think of spending 60k without knowing the slightest bit about the car. It was far from perfect with a lot of incorrect details. I did see my old Renault 18 in the car park though and left a note for the new owner who has now been in touch.

it got better for crowds after 2pm and by 4pm was quite nice, but was chuffing awful for most of the day.

Will try to hit a weekday next time.
