Chod collection tomorrow.

16 year old car that's been sitting for 6 months and has an idle problem and a flat battery, should be a fun drive home!

Sadly, it looks you may need to amend that address to our cast off centre, care of Shamfield, Liverpool.

All vehicles are unknown until you register them on the site.

Viz did a road rage column for a while where people could leave messages for people who had annoyed them, it was probably dropped on legal advice.

A little while ago I saw a Mk1 Landcrab (upright rear lights, London Underground style grille badge) bombing along with the back end about as high as hydragas can go.  It was a funny faded/dirty pale greyish-blue with a cream roof and looked like it had only just escaped from an abandoned driveway.  Wish I could have got a photograph, I'm pretty sure I shan't see it again.

vertical tail lights = mk2 ;-)

Some oddball old bloke did it, too. He seemed a bit of a curtain twitcher type, you had to send him the details to approve your message (i.e man in black Volvo reg no **** *** cut me up on the A5) first as he was getting loads of grief. Pretty sure someone found his number and posted up it was being driven by a knobhead or something which upset him a bit.

I thought that if anyone's car would be on there it would be yours as you get about so much*

*car shows and that.

Obviously I meant to type Mk11 a la many a mongbay advertisement  and hadn't actually got my anorak knowledge muddled.

I'd love a video of the eventual VOSA road side test on that heap of junk.

That Bug has been built very carefully, it's nowhere near as bad as you might at first expect.  There's a lot of work gone into what was obviously a complete wreck and from what I remember of info I've caught of it online, virtually every bit of structural metal and every mechanical component is brand new and solid, it's only the outer shell that has been kept crumbly.

I like it.

Yeah it doesn't look cheap, that's for sure. Cant see it being all hanging underneath

I quite like that Beetle. The jury's out on the wheels, but the rest of it is pretty cool. The only real negative side of it is that hundreds of 'original' people will copy it with appalling effects.

Meh, What does it do that that rusty 5 series didnt do about 5 years ago. Kittens will get their heads caught in the holes then what'll happen???

^ the nuns will lose their fingers trying to release the kittens heads

The lack of rear lights, number plates and abundance of sharp edges is what I find most unpleasant.

Posted

It's got a rear light in the engine bay, but you can only legally have a single reader light on something like pre 1936?

Posted

Yeah, even without an MOT its got to be roadworthy and no matter what its like underneath, with those sharp edges you will be fooked if you were pulled.

However what do you have to do if you get pulled on a pre60 car now? From memory, I think you used to have to present it at an MOT station within 7 days didn't you to get a certification that your car was now safe to show to the police. Is it the same? You would need a few rolls of gaffer tape there to make it legal.
