What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

It did look exactly like plaster of Paris where he hadn't finished the sanding and sculpting which was highly amusing as people who saw it were horrified that someone would do that... of course he didn't, I think it was some sort of polyester resin filler or something.

They left NZ last Thursday.

£2 from charity shop.

The receipt shows it was purchased in June 1985 for £15.99, anyone know where I might procure an adaptor to plug it into those odbii diagnostic ports.

Spent weeks last year looking for the ground nest (via binoculars) of this little fella's missus, to no avail. Last week my oppo at work found it without trying, using the naked eye.

Little ringed plover, the female had three chicks which are tear arsing round the ground at an alarming rate of knots as the dad tries to keep other birds at bay.

Since Old Man went into the bike shop yesterday lunch to enquire about my bike, it's suddenly been priced up, sorted, and I've got it back already.

It's like a new bike, and it was good before! Even got the brake cable sorted for free  :-)

Bloke at work is currently spending a fair wadge of money having new rear arches welded into an N reg MK6 Escrot and a replacement tailgate fitted and sprayed , WTF would you spend anything on these piles of crap ive no idea .

Makes me grin as i cant stand him nor him me and i like the fact hes chucking money down the drain , its a 1.8 Ghia so nout special

Just had a look on ebay to see what these are worth , theres a GTI on a BIN for 800 notes , all the rest are breaking for parts , says it all really :)

Good for him i say, in 10-15 years time I'd be glad to see a Mk6 Escort still about, Remember 10-15 years ago we would have been saying the same about someone doing the same on a MK4 Escort and now look at them.

^this is exactly what I thought, giving love and attention to something most people would throw away is what most people on this site do and get praise for, so celebrate his love for the 1.8 ghia, good for him

Went to a mate's funeral yesterday, would normally be in the Grumpy Old Men thread but the floral tribute in the shape of his green Citroen C15 did make me smile slightly.     R.I.P Neil.

I'm not a big fan of personalised number plates but  I smiled today when I followed a BMW 730D with the plate GR11NCH. Picked by his wife perhaps?

Turned over to a programme called "My Granny the Escort". Thought it was about the Ford cars range. I was wrong.

This afternoon my 21kg Lurcher managed to knock me over (110 kg), send me sideways down a banking and bent my arm backwards. I now have a swollen and unusable elbow, in pain and am on Ibuprofen.

She is fine. Verdict. Dogs are harder than people.

The last of the housemates left today. The last lad was temporary addition, quite a strange character who didn't seem to have possess the power of thinking before taking action, glad he's gone. The original 3 housemates are back in the UK now which now leaves just me. It ain't too bad seeing as I've still got the Sky box, my own internet access and the company car but I fear this won't be for too long, I may have to move into one of the other houses which seems pointless seeing as I've only got about 20-odd days left.

Check out this playa with his 'Russ 1' numberplate, that must have cost a few groat i thought, assuming it was RUS 51 or something.

Wrong!!! Its 'RIJ 661', a shitty worthless NI plate carefully manipulated with bonus fixing screws and dodgy-shaped characters into a condition of blatant illegality and more importantly, extreme visible desperation. The guy looked like the sort who wishes he was Ray Winstone in 'sexy beast' but actually is a gold chain-wearing mattress shop owner from Stoke.

In a hotel in Splott (no, really) near Cardiff.

I get a 25 quid allowance for food from work. So I've booked myself into a Premier Inn with a Brewers Fayre, where 25 quid gets you an all-you-can-eat buffet plus four pints and just about enough change for a dessert. There's a couple of fit lasses sat in the corner who I reckon are lesbians (like, video lesbians not the scary real-life ones) and a couple in the other corner who seem to have just met but she's dressed like a hooker and he's all over her so that's another strike for plentyoffish. Nobody's stopping me from eating my own body weight in food.

Could be worse.

No photos 'cos I was driving but this afternoon in the space of a couple of miles on the M25 between the M4 and M40 I saw a Mclaren P1,' Wow' thinks I, 'That's impressive' then immediately afterwards there were 2 low loaders each with an Apache on the back ( did wonder why they don't just fly them wherever they need to be) anyway ' Thats even more impressive, I've never seen one of those close up before'.I thought, then, I overtook a beaver tail carrying a mouldy green, engineless Jensen FF.

By now I'm thinking I'm dreaming or in a parallel universe. Nothing could top those spots, then I saw a black Vel Satis towing a farm trailer, which had upon it ....another motherflippin black Vel Satis!!!!! My mind is blown.

Well, I'm to be moved out of here on Friday as the last house"mate" left yesterday and the company want to "shut" the house down for the Summer.

I am currently enjoying having the house, car, TV and Sky box to myself (although I don't have a viewing card so most channels are out)

I followed a C63 AMG through south Brum a few days ago, one of the few moderns that it is worth opening the window for improved aural pleasure.

I think this is a sign you need a dash cam. Of course you'll never spot anything again if you get one mind you...

My sister is helping to organise Throckmorton airshow, and I believe the Apache will be making an appearance, maybe they were on the way there?

Finding these in a charity shop for a quid each:

The Mercedes one is quite slim, but covers a fairly small number of models in great depth, and has some lovely hand-drawn and painted profiles of the various cars. The other two are just awesome - the Track Tests book covers several 'tourers' from the 40s up to the 70s, all of which were actually driven in anger by the author, while the poorly-titled Sports Racing Cars ranges from the 20s up to the 00s, and has a wealth of technical info, including vintage cut-away line-drawings of various endurance racers. Both have gorgeous colour photos, both period racing shots and more recent showpieces.

They'd more than likely fly down/across…

I've had a quick look on Fightercontrol but nobody on there has posted them as 'road runners' (they like serial numbers over there) but somebody might know where they're going to/from.
