I got a cancellation for my driving test and consequently had 11 hours to prepare for my 9am test. I hadn't driven since failing my test four months earlier and I no longer had an instructor.I stuck a pair of L plates on my mother's rusty old Viva and Jonnyvalenta of this parish sat beside me while I practised my manoeuvres, hampered slightly by the lack of reversing lights.9am the next morning I turned up at the test centre with the same rusty old Viva, hoping the examiner wouldn't mention insurance. He didn't and I passed.

Finally went to the Dentist today, which wasnt too bad despite the dentist being a seriously moody bastard. Anyway, apparently its a gum abcess (which I guess isnt that bad considering a tooth one leads to a root canal) and I have amoxicillin for it. It bloody hurt when he prodded my gum with that sharp pokey thing though, just to ask me if it hurt.

After killing the Maxi battery (see Grumpy Thread) I took it down to the shop I got it from & gave them a bit of bullshit about it being faulty. They wer happy to exchange it but wouldnt have the right sort in till next Thursday. Balls. So they charged the old one up all afternoon & its absolutely fine. :D:D:D:D

I'm grinning, just got another years MOT on my Escort for the princely cost of £10 for 2 front brake flexi hoses, and that was only because the ends were rusty! Result. :D

That 'Hugh' character was easily the best part of the seemingly forgotten Armando Iannuci shows on channel 4 (from 9 years ago!), though other sketches we're quite good, such as the magician who explained 'aldult issues' to kids, such as how to fold a shirt for travelling etc.Worth a watch for many a grin.

I've been looking around for some tyres to go on new wheels for the Hillman. Its a bit of an odd size I need and after popping in to a couple of the local places I usually use I have found the size I need much cheaper on-line. I don't want to go to a dodgy back street place for fitting though.I happened across a link to one garage a bit further away who act as fitting agents for a couple of the on-line places. I've never been but always wanted to check it out so have just been up there. Proper old-school garage, really helpful. Nice to find somewhere that instantly feels trustworthy. They will be getting my business now and quite likely in the future too. :D

Filled in for my mate last night, DJing at a swedish bar in town. Been awhile since i've played records in public so that was nice enough, but on top I got a free meal of delicious grilled pork belly, free beer all night (Tuborg, top scando beer that I haven't drunk since I was in Iceland) and a bonus tenner at the end of the night! So i've been to the pub twice this week, and each time I've actually managed to make money.... quality!

Tuborg

Beer fail!
Not really, I dont drink lager at all but there were no ales available there so I didn't have much choice..... but it's actually very tasty, it's the crystal-clear swedish water they use to brew it. Scando Coke also tastes amazing for the same reason, in Iceland you can only buy it in glass bottles which we all know makes it taste better too.

Swedish bar eh, where in town is that Barrett? (I'm guessing Brighton town?)
