Volga 31105 possibly? One of those things that's had so many facelifts there's underseal on the windscreen.

I would have said that it's probably a Japanese car of some sort. Japan sized plates, Asian looking folks, Japanese wheels and it looks to be RHD judging by the wipers.

I think you are right, it was posted up on the 240 facebook page but looking at it the roof and doors is wrong for a volvo

Moog, what bike are you getting?

Getting a Giant defy 4. Was the cheapest one they had in stock and size. Going for fitting this morning. Compared to my 1990 s £70 recycled mountain bike it is like a space ship... Just feel i will turn up and everyone will be saying All the gear and no idea :)

The gear does help though so you won't know yourself.  I've been out on a number of training rides on my GT Tequesta with road tyres which by mountain bike standards is fairly light and fast but the guy I've been riding with rides a Giant carbon fibre racing bike which cost over £2k and weighs less than my front wheel and he leaves me behind easily even when freewheeling downhill.  Everyone's been on at me about getting a road bike for the triathlon but I'm too used to the GT now.

I reckon that ugly blue thing is a Nissan Crew. That pic is definitely taken in Japan.

Defys are brilliant bikes. Sold a Defy 1 yesterday, cracking bike and well spec'd. Could have sold another 4 or 5!

My first proper road bike was the Defy 2, did a few thousand miles on that with any problems apart from two punctures and one slightly out of true rim, which was my fault anyhow. I didn't ever service it either, just cleaned/oiled it occasionally and put two tyres on. Can't rate them highly enough.

Does anyone watch that car hoarder program on non testicular TV? I wouldn't bother, it's pretty shit but they did do a bare metal Dodge Charger and clear powder coated it something I've never seen before.

I do like it. It's a pretty brave thing to do I recon if you did the same with my cortina you'd just get a load of fresh air, dents and views of the bits of welded in gate posts and give way signs making up most of the body structure.

Something magical has happened with my insurance.  Now, when I get a quote on a car I'm interested in buying or borrowing the policies are in the £200-300 range instead of the £900-1600 range.  This makes me rather happy.

EDIT: except for 1.8 diesel non-turbo Puglet 205s, which are £770 a year!  Insurance people *shakes fist*

Good to know. I just went with their recommendation, but they seem to know what they were talking about.

Just had the fitting. They used lasers to measure me then set the bike up in Sport setting. Find it odd to ride as used to heavy MTB, but i can say that having it setup probably made a huge difference.

Brucie bonus is that my mum has just given me a oner toward the bike :)

Still bricking it about Sunday and whether I can complete it or not.

A bloke & a woman have had a coming together of cars. So minor that nobody has a broken light. So put your park anywhere lights on in a live lane in the middle of a bloody roundabout. It's very important you scribble on envelopes there instead of driving 20 yards to the parking bays. The 1.5 mile queue of people you've created wont mind at all.

Whilst bloody annoying for everyone in the queue, isn't it some sort of 'law' that requires folk to do this at the scene? Driving even the 20 yards may give one of the involved an opportunity to bugger off thus avoiding any consequences.

That non Volvo Volga thing has facelift w124 (like mine) bonnet, and front lights.

"Dear Mr Senior,

Urgent - Contact Required

Please can you call us as a matter of urgency regarding your insurance policy for your VAUXHALL FD03 SHV - Octagon Insurance".

Funny how they are getting in touch now when previously they fobbed me off.  The bank kindly put a block out for them and it looks like they've stumbled over it.  ;)

- Short version of the story - they started me a policy on the above Astra when I no longer owned it, with no paperwork - probably quoting some continuous insurance malarky.

Not sure there is a law covering it, but I was told by Direct Line that you shouldn't move cars in the event of an accident until you have taken photos as it helps prove liability if there are pictures of the cars at the site of the impact.

Perhaps I wouldn't still be trying to get my excess back nine months on if I had known that at the time...

When my 2CV got thumped up the arse on a roundabout, I had no option but to drive away from the scene of the accident, as my seat flew off its runners, and I found myself in the rear of the car unable to reach the pedals!

Posted

when my smart roadster got thumped up the arse at a roundabout, the rozzer that was there made me move it off the highway before exchanging details with the truck driver.

The actual presence of Dibble probably a factor here though.

The presence of princess Anne probably had more to do with it. ;-)

I saw these 2 shops earlier and had a chuckle, I wonder if the people taking their clothes to the laundrette get worried at all

Lol. No, black rangie with two bikes and two rozzer mobiles.

I got hit by the 7.5 tonner paying too much attention to the convoy on the roundabout.

The speeding-Golf thread. If he's winding us up, we are making a five-star meal of it. Lovely. If he's genuine, he's getting a tiny fraction of what he deserves, therefore I would hope the thread can run and run. Whichever, it's top entertainment on a wet Friday night when there's only the soaps on.

Finding out my crusie contorl actually works. Still haven't entirely figured it out as it seems to need a few presses sometimes, but it's definitely functional

I got fitted for my road bike, they certainly seemed to know what they were doing and it's definitely an art plus it does work, especially on a decent run out.

As regards Sunday, the best thing I can suggest is to just go at your own pace, don't worry what other people are doing or you'll very likely end up burning yourself out. Then you'll not only suffer but you won't actually enjoy it, and it'll play on your mind.
