Nothing wrong with that. Shite ain't for everyone. Actually, can I request some form of review in a few weeks as a mate is looking to replace his 56 Fester with one, he asked my opinion and I genuinely know nowt about them. So essentially I'd like to pass off your opinion as mine to make me appear cleverer.

L-o-l.

Delivery 1st march if finance accepted. For some reason best known to dealers, they had three 'pre-registered' ones outside in exactly the same colour/spec that were all more expensive! The sales bloke was a world apart from the BMW one, both very pleasant (as you'd expect, I suppose) but the BM bloke was a lot more passionate, quelle surprise.

I had a look inside an Adam whilst I was there and almost had to do the showroom equivalent of sitting on your hands at a car auction. My long suffering bird would have finally flipped if I signed up for a new car, so that was the end of a very short pipe dream.

Is it a Corsa...? Sorry genuinely don't know  :-(

One of they guys at works bought one of these 1.2 VXR look alike Corsas for her Mrs and recons it's pretty good but really, really fucking slow.

I did a similar thing, sat in so many nearly-new cars I forgot that old cars existed and signed on the dotted line. It was a nice experience for a while, but I've just checked on how much I still owe on it.....

It has occurred to me so many times over that I could have paid outright for no end of other cars, smashed a shitload of miles on them and been better off. Maybe they wouldn't have been as reliable, my Focus hasn't missed a beat in nearly 50k/18 months. But somehow, in four years time, I'm going to have to try and flog a 200k Focus. Hmmmm.

Those Adams are really neat looking things.  I've said it before, but I'm happy to say it again that I actually rate them and if I were in the market for such a conveyance I absolutely would.

Same with BINI for obvious reasons. A different class of sales folk altogether - the guy at Bini was helpful as, not pressuring, and so on.

Oh, and they'll give anyone finance these days. Don't worry. I defaulted on a dozen loans and five years ago struggled to get a £25 phone contract. Wandered into a car supermarket last year and they couldn't accept me quickly enough - I think it helps that with a car, they've got something to take back if you slip behind and still chuck you through recoveries.

Still paying the loans off though. Completion date for debt management plan is early 2016. As an added LOL, I just reclaimed the PPI on one of them which I get to keep!

They will finance anyone now but not so much on the manufacturer backed schemes.

The difference these days is if you fail normal finance they now go to sub prime but you'll pay an extra 4-5% a year which on a 4 year loan is 20% more.

I just read that post I made and realised it could be the most boring thing I've ever said. Must try harder .

Let me translate for you in a succinct phrase. ALL FINANCE R SHIT.

You may recall the saga of my wife being hit by another driver not paying attention back in November, and then our inability to trace the witness.

Over the Christmas period I was informed that the third party was willing to admit 50% liability so decided to accept a reduced payout and chalk it up to experience.

After a bit of chasing a cheque arrives today, but oddly for the full write-off value of the Toyota of just shy of £800 (this I thought pretty good for a nearly 12-year-old Avensis with just shy of 200k on the clock, and lacquer peel on almost every panel).  This makes me grin as I was expecting half that.

Car is not Cat D, I've not claimed against my policy so doesn't affect NCB.  We'll see what happens at renewal time, of course.

The damage was really rather minimal, the wing has been pushed in by the headlight and this has pushed out a crease on the arch:

When the weather improves I'll put my £35 repair plan into action - £20 secondhand wing, £15 of paint and some HOT SOLDERING IRON action on that bumper split.

put it in drive and see how many circuits of the tree it makes on a full tank of fuel with nobody in it.

£800 for an Avensis that hates charity is good going. Glad to hear its finally getting sorted.

Cheers. Tell you what, it truly is the car as a domestic appliance but it hasn't half taken some beatings (no pun intended) over the last four years and just keeps on running smoothly.

I think an intensive jetwash session to remove the flaking lacquer is the way forward. This worked well on the roof which is now a lovely shade of Pogweasal Pink, although it does come back nicely when polished.

There's evidence of a frontal thump at some point in it's life (aside from this one), with overspray on the windscreen washer pipes, so perhaps it's not coincidental that the front wings and bonnet are the only panels that aren't peeling.

I was thinking more along the lines of Mel Smith & Bill Bailey's love child.

I'm not one to comment on cool, but come on DW, how can you say what's cool or not with that hat on?

You have an identical (but Austrian) twin brother who drives a chemical lorry.

Lizzy getting the gold on the skeleton bob. I love the Olympics, it seems just like ordinary folk doing good.

Also thank fuck for Clare Balding bring sense to the whole thing unlike those 'RAD' commentator nobbers the flippy trick type sports have attracted to proceedings.
