I'm grinning after a great birthday yesterday, Had a cool 80's themed fancy dress party last night where everyone made a great effort to get dressed up, The DJ's played a great range of 80's songs including Russ Abbott's Atmosphere and a bit of Black Lace, Cheesey! My wife has also bought me a Canon EOS 450D SLR camera which looks nice, I haven't clue how it works yet but hopefully my shite spotting photos will improve now (Very much doubt it though!)

Hey reality TV is toss but I'm watching last night's BGT in tears of laughter. That cruise ship nut case is a fucking right laugh.

Trigger- this is a good demonstration of what all the settings do on a camera. The effects are exaggerated but it gives you an idea of the basics.http://www.dryreading.com/camera/index.html

Had to chuckle this morning. Took the recently fettled Tagora GL to the gym this morning. As I was just pulling out of the car park a man and young son (maybe 4 years old) passed and the guy looked."Would you like one of those , Daddy?" asked the son."No." came the prompt reply. :lol:

:lol::lol::lol:

Sitting outside the front of the pub having a pint, heard a rumbling sound, thought it would be some sort of TVR or kit car, when it came into view it was a brown Mk 5 Cortina with what sounded like a Rover V8 8)

Did a car boot today and made £90 clear selling shite from the loft , had a fair few comments on my Commer Imp , and one offer of purchase which i refused , Now fairly pissed on wine which is a bonus as i dont normally drink :lol:

Seeing lots of old motors out and about today. Yes there were a fair few Sherpa coupes, but I also spotted a Corsair, Superminx estate, TVR Tasmin, '65 Mustang and an Austin 8 among others. Yesterday I saw a Riley RM, Austin 7 and Minor MM, all within the confines of my little town. Seeing old cars on the road always makes me feel like summer's on its way.

I hear ya. I've just choked on my beer watching a well-spoken 71-year-old retired teacher running around the stage doing bird impressions. :lol:

While wife is stranded away I have dug over the dead lawn at the bottom of the garden, levelled it, and seeded it. It should come up a treat in a couple of weeks! Celebrated with poached egg and cup of tea. Kids eating their dinner (prepared by me) and enjoying it. House fairly straight, feeling generally OK about wife trapped overseas and actually feel that I am going to cope OK. Yeah nice feeling, especially as I am def earning mega brownie points for this. Oh and I get a bonus tomorrow. No idea what it will be but for once I am having this before she gets her mitts on it. Now all I need do is empty the garage and voila, time for shite at long last! Been offered a 1998 Seat Ibiza for free! Its a heap but its been abused. Not exactly a classic but I reckon I could do something with it......So problems under control, potential free car, bonus tomorrow (could be zero but fingers crossed it isnt) and suddenly things are looking a bit more optimisitc than they did!

Jayzus, he looks like the bastard love child of Zac Efron and Marie Osmond!Who is he anyway? The latest pop sensation/tomorrows Celeb Love Island contender?

Posted

I've only heard of him through the massive internet hate campaigns to be honest, I think he's just some bland singer whose voice hasn't broken yet. Gets A LOT of stick for that it seems...

Seems a bit unfair when there are so many of them!I am looking forward to the day when BGT or X Factor finds a new Hendrix rather than some pre pubescent kid who sings like R Kelly. Surely there has to be some proper talent out there?

There's lots of talented people about, it's just that the vast majority of the population are not interested in any form of even mildly 'challenging' music, in fact they dont like music at all, they just want to see attractive* people dancing about to easily-digestible throw-away guff for a few months, until the next crop of 'stars' are discovered. Get out to your local small clubs and venues, you'll be surprised how much good stuff there is out there being givenlittle or no exposure. And this is coming from a man who almost exlusively listens to 35 year old prog.

Very true, I agree totally that there's some great stuff out there. However I can only quote The Jam by saying "The public wants what the public gets". Its sad to think I work with people perhaps slightly younger by five years or so who nothing of The Who, Sex Pistols, Divine Comedy, Bonzo Dog Band, Cream, etc etc but CAN tell me the name of last years X factor fourth placed singer. All because of Cowell. Fair play, he's made some serious wedge but cant he just admit he's had a good run and just f*ck off now?

When you think about it the Sex Pistols were just a manufactured boy band...

I always thought the chap from the Divine Comedy would be great for penning the UK's eurovision entry......

^^^^^A big +1 to that. I’ll not fall into the one generation's music’s better than another trap. There’s always been good and bad, it’s just the means by which the dross is foisted upon us that’s changed.I’m nowhere near the Steve Lamacq league, but I do average about 3 gigs a week and there are some very talented people plugging away for very little credit on support bills. Standing there whilst punters resolutely ignore or heckle them must be very hard to take. Fair play to 'em, I wish I could do it.

If he did I think it would end up rather like the Father Ted "My Lovely Horse" song! :lol:
