I took the fulvia there last year.  Amazing place, and great whisky.

I got massively pissed yesterday/last night at a mate's wedding and I'm going back for some more tonight.

If he and his good wife are now on honeymoon then surely the mate has other things on his mind tonight?! :P

Got myself a set of 16' Rover 800 'Prestige' alloys off ebay for £21, the price of a part worn:

That's a very big wheel, are you sure it'll fit on the Rover?

He's one of the lads so his honeymoon isn't until later in the year. Third night on the bounce out on the lash, happy days.

Oh, just followed my neighbour home in his nearly acquired Mk4 Astra 1.7DTi estate with a farked turbo. It was comically slow and blowing out billows of smoke as and when it felt like it.

Je suis en Belgium now. Away from the daily drudgery, stress and worry. Apres, when it gets a bit a bit cooler, je vais go and do some tat spotting avec ma camera.

A surprising choice for the Estima, but not an appalling one.  They look like they're just a bit sticky-outy-General-Grabbery so does this mean you're going to have to pop rivet some trailer arches on?

I saw what appeared to be a 16 year old lad wobbling along my street on a V suffix FS1E tonight. He's wobbling now, but I bet he goes on to become a safer driver than any of his friends.

I would like to thank our Arab friends for ensuring that I can continue to celebrate special occasions by treating myself to a heart attack breakfast in shabby surroundings on a grim stretch of the A1. A simple pleasure in my life which I'm delighted to see will not be taken away just yet.

They dont actually stick out further than arches.

Only reason that i got them was virtually new tires and price tbh.

Just cheered up a bit watching B17 Sally b doing very low pass over my house on its runin to damyns hall for its display, then again on its way back out.

All going well, I have just agreed to buy this. I fear I'm losing it somewhat but the council estate is looking too clean and it'll neatly fill the shabby hole left in the forum by Le Testicle's late 760. I shall change my name to suit.

Cheers

Andy Shepherd

The Little Chef at Tyndrum once saved my life (at least it felt that way - very hungry late on a Sunday when everything in the Highlands was closed). We were travelling from Ullapool to Bristol in a Renault 10.

Hey, Caffiend, that's fab!

Andy: that doesn't look too shabby.

I didn't buy Little Chef? Oh wait.......

Andy Sheppard - Nice one on the Volvo, it doesnt look too shabby tbh, maybe your just used to the Council Estate Volvo.

Caffiend - Nice one on the BXtra.

Billy/Mo - it's as rough as arses. Bonnet is almost sunscorched, lacquer on both front wings is more or less missing, paint's pretty flat and the sunroof has been sikaflex'd shut. On the plus side it's got 11months test and 99k on the clock, it's had a new tailpipe and mechanically it seems pretty good. Hopefully collect on Wednesday.

Is it a good road trip away mate or somewhere local this time? I bet it's bloody lovely to drive.

I went to VW show today at tatton park, scrounged a free lift and ended up getting in for free as a fluke. It was a good day too, and I didn't waste too much money. Saw a van which inspired me to paint mine a different colour, and talked my mate into letting me paint it in his workshop which will save me £500.

On top of that, theres a bloke that goes round all the VW shows selling cheap random aerosols. Anyway, he's had enough of it so came over and offered us any can for 20p each, (or all 2500 cans of remaining random stock for £50)

I didn't fancy carrying all 2500 cos its mostly shit and obscure stuff, but saw a load of RS components stuff and ended up with 12 tins of IPA cleaner (brake cleaner), a few cans of some graffiti remover that smelled exactly like easy start, a load of "optical instrument cleaner" that will do a lovely job on car windows, plus about 20 cans of PCB lacquer for work (we buy the exact stuff from RS at about £13 a can)

It's about 25 miles away so no epic collection thread, sadly. Should be pretty pleasant but a thread will follow at some point hopefully.

Sweet Andy, do you plans for involve un-sikkaflexing the roof and tidying up the paint? As Billy said, I bet its a scorcher to drive.

Hey, Cobblers, a lad I know has one of those VW van things (about a 1985 job) which is a diesel. The gearbox has thrown it's hand in and he reckons the only place he can find one is a £1,200 reconditioned jobbie. Surely they must have been fitted to other VAG things of that era and be easy to find?

Nah, theyre shit and made of chocolate and only fitted on t25s, as such I have 3 spares in the garage because I can't bear to sell any of them knowing mine will shit the bed as soon as I get rid of any.

A bloke called Aidan Talbot does a top notch refurb for about £600, or your man can scoot about on ebay etc and pick up a mystery used box for maybe £100-300 depending on how picky he is about ratios being right etc etc.

The petrol/diesel boxes have different bellhousings and input shafts, but they are easy to swap over. 4 speed and 5 speed have different linkages etc, and the very early 4 speed boxes (with two balls on the selector thingy) are different again.

Ah, nice one cheers, I'll let him know. Many thanks

I've just bought tickets to go to Romania and Bulgaria in September.

Why bother?  Just wait until January next year and then pop down to your local council estate - it'll be like visiting both at once.
