Not too bad thanks Warren.I took the tank out to weld a section on the rear passenger floor, fully welded the passenger wheel well (inside).I just now need to try buy some metal for the drivers wheel well (inside).. Buy new rear wheel cylinders, paint everything to keep rust at bay. Then screw everything back together ... unless i pull out the heater "unit" to fix the fan, as it doesn't work, but i will put everything back in first and have a look at the electrics. Because i weirdly get two positives to my reverse light, and 2 negative and a positive to my heater fan switch.Ooh yeah and i need to sand and paint the rear arches as i filled them.and the lower rear quarter as i welded in a nice new piece. And i forgot to mention i welded in a piece on the top of the door, which just needs a light fill and sand. All the work was carried out in the 2 sunny days we had.Otherwise i have been busy with trying to find jobs and apprenticeships.I could go on all night, but will leave it for the Fiesta thread (When i have more to add) Thanks alot for the interest though !

Nobs in the news

Marium Varinauskas, 28, tried to strike the officer on the head with his penis when she was called out to his flat, but she got out of the way.

Presumably The Sport are busy working on truncheon jokes for tomorrow's lead

This is making me smile today:

The UK boy kidnapped in Pakistan two weeks ago has been reunited with his father at the British High Commissioner's home in Islamabad.

Sorting stuff out and clearing up.

Since getting some new equipment earlier in the week I've had a right good sort out of my work area/bench. Shelves/drawers moved, two lathes put away (one will be sold), new lathe mounted, wiring all neatened up, paperwork filed etc. All in all a much more pleasant working environment.

The new equipment will put me in a better position to make anything I might need but it is still often easier if an old part can be adapted to suit rather than making from scratch. I've had this box of old bits lying around for ages.

Its actually the complete dregs from a whole load of parts I got a few years ago which I sorted at the time. These are all the little bits that get left behind when larger bits are removed. Anyhow, I thought I ought to make a start and look through them. Decant a bit into a smaller box lid and I'm finding loads of useful parts

I've probably doubled the number of second hands I have in stock that are so delicate its incredible they have survived repeated rummaging in the past. There are other fragile bits still in one piece too and some bits are over 200 years old but may one day help something of similar age work again.

Just 'won' a CD I've been after for a while on Ebay. Unfortunately iT wenT for my max bid and it's the most I've spent on a CD for a good few years..Anyway, quite pleased. Thanks Brammy for our 'deal', too.Cheers.

Filled the Renault up today for only the second time since it returned to the road. It's got a big tank! It's my daily at the mo as the BX is having its brakes fettled and a cambelt change, and the Mini's broken so the 2CV has been bagged by the other half. I bloody love it. Super cheap motoring but it's a real joy to drive too.But I'm drifting from the point. The main grin point was that calculating the mpg came in at a highly respectable 35mpg. That's really not bad for a 2-litre. Especially considering the way I drove home the other night...

Regular shiters will remember my rant in the GoM thread about exhausts, and KWIK-proFIT wanting £99 to fit a new backbox.I was mildly chuffed therefore to get that down to £42 by ringing a different fast-fit place, but they needed to order one.Today? £18 and I fitted it myself in 5 minutes flat. £81 saving for a few seconds twirling a 13mm spanner. Score.

Where did you get the part from?
B&M Exhausts in Mansfield. TBH it's not the bestest quality, it's a little boomy, but it's still filthy cheap and will pass an MoT better than the one with the 4-inch rusty gash in it.

Yep, seconded. And luckily the little fella seems pretty unscathed after the whole ordeal.

Seem like a nice family. The feeling of relief they are experiencing must be unimaginable.

A Bit of Fry and Laurie.Should be in bed but watching an episode of the above. They were superb. Before one of them found fortune in Hollywood & the other became a pompous, self promoting voice-over man.

I assume you restore antique clocks, Seth?My dad does and has similar boxes (and boxes and boxes) of such bits.

Smaller than clocks  Pocket watches mostly but I do do the odd smaller/larger thing too.A bit more grin factor: I phoned up for a catalogue/price list from what I imagine is a fairly small cottage industry type firm that makes cutters. The label on the envelope it came in yesterday was typed. On a type writer. :D

Chap near me has just bought a 106 and must have a similar exhaust, sounds like a barrymobile starting up.
