Went to Leicester today to view a car for a friend. A '90 G plate 500 SE Merc in bull-buggeringly good condition.

Anyway, I used the trusty starship 528i for the run. 200+ miles, not hanging about but not going mental (it's cold out there) and the thing impresses me more every time I go on a run in it. 35.4 mpg was a positive bonus.... Amazing old thing, that.

Whiston Motor Factors. I've got an account with them.

Best Motor Factors for miles.

:D:D:D @cms. I take it that feet-in-shot is now the Autoshite standard for photography?

I'm a size 12 otherwise I'd have scoured local charity shops for white moccasins to wear in photos, or indeed to place somewhere in a timestamped blurry photo of 2/3rds of my Cavalier parked outside some garages in the dark...

We found fourteen pairs of white sandals when we cleared my Ma's house after her death...

So, like the blue tile joke on uk.rec.humour, the white moccasins and the hammer a smaller (moccasin? :D ) joke are the AS memes!

A work mate was moaning to me tonight about how he has just had to scrap his petrol engine Renault Espace as the turbo blew up on it and how it was £1500 to fix, so he's gone out and bought a MG ZT instead.... well you can guess the rest, he's now got a bolloxed head gasket instead, talking about out of the frying pan and into the fire!

Just spaffed coffee over monitor ....

Hammer a Smaller Moccasin on it could be the standard response!

I just made myself a ham and pineapple bap.... Cause that's Hawaii roll

Owt in there for a1989 Sierra 1.8 CVH?

Posted

no, scary got all my sierra stuff, and i think he used them

I think that was a pretty fair swap for most of my mk3 granada spares actually....

My grin is because the skoda is playing up, and I have the dash in bits in the front room, I used the sierra to go to asda this evening. I may not bother fixing the skoda after all.

Secondary (and off topic) grin - a couple of weeks ago mrs S mentioned that I spend too much time talking to idiots on the internet, and that I shoud do something constructive with my free time instead. With this in mind, I got a keyboard off freecycle and learned to play the piano. She was listening to my progress earlier and commented "your Bach is worse than your Byte".

I didn't have the heart to tell her it was Procol Harum

edited because my sentence constructon, grammar and spelling suck.

Went down to London last nigfht to see Andy Zaltzman. After driving for 3 hours to get there I was busting, in such a rush I forgot to take my keys out the ignition and locked the door. Lucky for me in London's west end the pedestrian barriers have window boxes held on with wire which. Using this wire allowed me to break into the Rover Coupe in about 30 seconds. None of the ten people who walked past batted an eyelid!

Tomorrow is my first day back at work. 5am start so I'm off to bed now!

I don't even want to think how cold it will be at 5am!

Insurance. Well, a semi-grin anyway. Having made a "bit" of a mess of a Mercedes 18 months ago or so, I was expecting a proper ass ramming when checking the prices for a soon-to-be daily. Haven't checked the T&Cs but a casual price comparision trawl has given almost the same prices I was paying about 3 years ago for my Bluebird. Granted, I'm no longer in Manchester....

edit: that was for a 1.8LX Peugeot 405 and Escort 1.8 16v LX Estates and with a soon to expire TS10. That means, if I can get £1200 or so for my Drift innit silvia I'll be well set for a years autoshiting

This chaps videos on youtube are brilliant, He's filmed loads of UK hot rod shows since 1974 and posted up the videos for everyone to see, Honestly they are well worth looking at.

I was reading his previous cars and car show photos thread on buysellcortina (you need to log in to view) and that's one of the best threads I've read in a long while!

Just bumped into my mate who bought the ex-Sporty-Shite Cavalier off me. He's one of those lads who gets every last nut and bolt as it should be and he's spent £600 and counting on the car and loves it to bits.
