Walked in, lass there waiting for me with an available seat. Got offered a real coffee which was lovely, a nice chat, really good haircut for £6. She's also a bit of a looker which is why always go there and she's got a filthy laugh.

Sadly, she thinks you are desperate and just a little bit creepy. Unlucky.

Groffles :D

That's ace Louise!

Making me grin is my new toy (see Autoshite 24 news) and all the petrol consuming madness of it.

Louise, that's fantastic! As an aside, I'm enjoying an Allegro-shaped month on the Autoshite calendar - your Allegro, to be exact!

Thanks all

It was so nice to get that bib yesterday, it was lovely and such a nice surprise... I think Claypole wins best baby pressie award! :D

Four things today

Moving house today. Couldnt afford to hire a van so used the Volvo 850 Estate instead. I want to know what cant fit inside a volvo ! They are immense.

Then went to a charity shop to get a set of drawers, ended up spending £300 on two wardrobes that originally came from Harrods, A TV, Chest of Drawer, Table and chairs and delivery. Utter bargain.

Managed to almost finish moving and unpacking

Got my new Saab thanks to Simmo helping me get it this morning. Nice layer of dust on it and will need a bit of fettling but looks good allround. Best bit was the farm it was stored on was a shite paradise. My GF wants a RR now as she liked the one there in Beige :)

Start em early.

Just needs a nice sick stain now to fit in a bit better around here.

Rolls.

The barn had a Scimitar, couple of X300 xj6, Xj40, Tickford Jag, loads of boats and a few other things.

When I grow up I want a barn like that. GF has agreed I am allowed one as well :) She like the Roller and the XJ40. Think she might be a keeper.

An old friend came in from out of town. She used to have a 240K Skyline, Mk2 Escort and a Mk1 Golf Cabrio.

She wants me to go car hunting.

Brilliant old yankee car chase from the film The Seven-Ups, I've never heard of it before but this chase is intense!.

Look out for Trigs fat American cousin at 5mins losing a door. :(

Larry! Ha! I can speculate as good as him. It's a tracking device, innit? You slide it under Conor's passenger seat, and he bimbles around, and then you download the SD card and see what ponds the tadpole's been visiting! Huh? Huh? Huh?

Yes and no. It is indeed a tracking device, and records the GPS info onto the SD card. It is not for tracking Conor though. He makes me take him anywhere he wants to go and I don't need technology to track his movements between his playstation and the kitchen either.

In fact, I have no real need for covert surveillance tools, I just enjoy building them. I'm working on a variant of this one (using an ancient nokia 5110) that can provide GPS data in a text message ;)

ENGINE POTION IN "ACTUALLY FUPPING WORKED" SHOCKER

Recent cheap golf gti purchase HIT DA ROAD monday. Started it for the first time and it had a persistent sticky tappet and a couple that came and went. It sounded fucked, like a car on Grand theft auto that is about 10 seconds away from EXPLODE. Anyway, I assumed I had checked the oil when looking at it, and it hadn't dropped or burned any so I neglected to actually check it the first day. Oil pressure lights went out etc.

Went to work and back twice (4 miles each way) and it didn't get any better (the brakes, thankfully did) so I checked the oil. The dipstick was dryer than Gillian Mckeith's Breakfast, so I topped her up full and "hoped for the best. No luck - About 20 miles and it still sounded like a skeleton having a wank in a filing cabinet, which was falling down a metal fire escape at the time. And was also full of marbles, and round the corner was an ill maintained Mk4 escort eclipse.

A set of tappets are only about £50, but I couldn't be arsed swapping them (belt and cam needs to come off) so in my desperation, I remembered I had a can of engine flush shizzle I got free with some oil about 7 years ago that I had dismissed as "probably rubbish, wont do any good and will probably make the thing piss oil out"

Tipped it in, drove round the block. Problem solved. Starts from cold and sounds better than a 106k mile hot hatch engine has any real right to.

I saw a Kadett like Triggers not far from home earlier! :D A white one. It went by in a flash so sadly I had no chance to get digital proof.

I'm 99% sure it was an Opel saloon just like yours and not an HA Viva or something. I just saw it out of the corner of my eye on the other side of the road, shops everywhere and dual carriageway to boot so I had no chance of turning round to follow it. Looked back at it though to confirm it was what I thought it was. There's all sorts of things hiding out there though.

I just watched that Seven-Ups clip... the driver of the getaway Pontiac looks awfully like the driver of the Charger in Bullitt. Anyone else think so? And two Kadetts biting the dust... NYC seems to be full of familiar old tat! I even spotted a Hunter and a Fiat 850 Coupe! :D

Yes it was the same driver!

^^Because the Bullitt badguy driver was a professional stunt driver. The director decided to just go ahead and cast him in the role, since it was essentially a non-acting role.

Bill Hickman IIRC.

Lots of Police Stop! and Police Camera Action on ITV4, all with footage before 1994 so as you can imagine it's shite central. Also had that amazing one with the 2 SD1s delivering the organ through London rush hour

It'd be good if they could erase all of the execrable Alistair Stewart's contributions to PCA.

Putting a 20" bar on my 50cc chainsaw made me grin earlier, it looks ridiculous.

Been driving for 28 years, and managed to avoid any parking tickets. Until today.

Still not sure why this makes me grin... :D

On the way back from Colchester today I spotted one of those Chrysler 300C's with Bentley badges, I couldn't help but laugh.

Who's the actor playing the hood in the crap hat, riding shotgun?
