I'm please that she's still with you, Scary. Our geriatric cat is still hanging in there too, sleeps lots and doesn't go out much: 19 in March!

wow....thats a phone call you didn't expect!

We have a 17 year old cat too and he has a big tumour by his left eye. Vets did remove it 2 years ago and said the op was risky then but it came back within 6 months. Their advice was to let him carry on if he still seemed happy enough and he is still here but only seems to eat, sleep and shit.

She's home, and seems unaffected by all the fuss. Mrs S is over the moon, but I have already been warned about using the "Z" word around her....

I was trying to upload a pic, but my camera usb lead just died. I'll edit it in when it comes back to life later.

Pleased to hear this, what a nice story! :D

This is why cats invented WIN.

Cat now wide awake and eating smoked salmon....

(I found the salmon last night reduced in asda for 28p - Mrs S had it for tea and saved a bit for the cat who couldn't have it straight away because of the anesthetic)

Hey SC, glad to hear your rather old Cat is on the road to recovery. My 18-year-old cat seems to be feeling unwell herself, her meowing is rather unenthusiastic after the past year or so of seriously loud meowing, she used to be quite shy.

Anyway, Filleh here is happy to hear your Cat is recovering: (Got a pic of her somewhere doing an impression of the Jaguar 'cat leap')

First, this isn't in the wrong thread... just read through to the end of the post ;)

Our oldest cat has been ill recently, she had an abcess in her mouth and although antibiotics were helping, she needed surgery this morning to clear out the dead skin and gunk. This is always a risk, and especially so with a 17 year old cat, so after I dropped her off I went to work and tried not to think about it for a bit.

About half past one, the vet rang to say that Chaos had passed away on the operating table. Apparantly her heart just stopped, there was the usual last gasp then no breathing either. They left her on the table, and rang me straight away with the bad news. I then rang my wife to let her know and set about tidying up so I could collect the body and bring her home for burial in the garden.

Just after 2.00, while I was telling a friend what had happened and we were discussing cats, life and death, my phone rang again. It was the vets........

The cat came back to life :o

15 minutes "dead" on the table, the vet returned to move the body and clean up. As he lifted her from the table she opened her eyes and miowed at him (and presumably he shit a brick... I would have) so they now have her in recovery and I can go and collect in about half an hour.

I'm at home, explaining to Mrs S why the dead cat is now an un-dead cat

Fair play, that's made my day. Cats are ace and we love our's to bits.

Cats are gr8. You don't have to walk them, they don't make much noise and can be very affectionate. Plus they always have that condescending "what are you doing now you stupid human?" look on their face. Once I have a proper place of my own I will get a pair so I can watch their comedy playfighting.

What's cheered me up is finally getting my real tv and xbox 360 back. Only one thing for it - plug in the Saturn and play Sega Rally

I suppose this isn't the "I'm allergic to cats thread".... :D

That's no way to treat a wash-mitt, the mud will scratch the paintwork!:wink::wink:

Got some decent Autoshite pics (only nearly got run over once in the process  ), offended some old farts just by existing, Tom Morton actually played some Cure on the radio. Then I had a late lunch of sausage rolls and chocolate. It's got to be worth a grin? It'll do me fine!

Getting paid for 53 hours overtime at £20/hr is making me grin.

Not actually remembering doing 53 hours overtime is even better however.

Thanks Pompei.

Mrs P is a midwife

Midwives are my favourite people at the mo (and probably forever TBH), the four with us on the day were amazing, and TBH the others I met along the way were all very nice too, they all seemed to be all for maximising the chance of getting me the birth I wanted. The two here for the delivery, well, I think I might actually be in love with them. They were so good with me, encouraging me through the hardest part (pushing is not GR8) and then helping me out of the pool, cleaning me up, drying and dressing me, they even went upstairs and made the bed. Most of all they helped me have Megan and I can't thank them enough.

I know "it's their job" but I couldn't do it and I'm totally in awe of people who can! Much respect to the Mrs :)

I'll be learning all about midwifes soon i hope... after 5 years of trying and two IVF sessions, Mrs T got a positive result this morning :D:D Very early days though (she'd only be 2 weeks) so trying not to get excited at the moment as things can go wrong :? , Plus we are trying to keep it very secret so don't tell anyone :P
