I saw a transporter of them on the A1 heading south today. Someone broke the ugly stick on them, and then went and found a thicker, stronger ugly stick and carried on...

The Isle of Man is awesome.

I got back at 2am this morning after being sat on the floor the back of a VW LT with 4 enduro bikes, 2 mountain bikes and gear for 6 of us, freezing to death from Heysham ferry port to Rotherham with a bit of old carpet over me for warmth, a fairly shite journey (It was either sit in the back of a van there and back or drive my own car 500 miles, being a skint I choose the back of a van. It was also probably more comfortable than my car)

Went there with a bunch of mates, 4 of them on motorbikes and me and another lad on mountain bikes for the weekend. Stayed at an absolutely brilliant bed and breakfast place with the best full english I've had in years. Worked out at £109 each for 6 of us for the weekend including the ferry crossing from Heysham-Douglas for a lwb van and a landrover and 6 of us all arranged by the bed and breakfast place (http://www.clagmooar.com/) The landlady does an excellent toffee apple cake and used to be some sort of number one female rally driver on a national level. I was tired and aching from a day out on the bike when she was telling me, and preoccupied with eating some bacon. The Landlord is some big boss at a local car dealers and when big road rallies are on, he takes a brand new car off the fourcourt, rallies it and then takes it back on monday morning. Good lad.

Spotted some absolutely brilliant shite, took some pictures but lost them and was continually confused my all the mid-90s cars on suffix number plates (Corsa with BHL833S and the like). Got some decent biking in despite the freezing conditions, and the dangerously sore condition of my arse (I hadn't touched the bike for 8 months).

Had a couple of decent nights out in Peel and Douglas, talked the usual mildly pissed rubbish to the friendly local birds, Eat some really good food, and then to top it off watched Top Gear on the ferry on the way home in the bar with a few pints and a plate of chips.

I'll be going back!

I'm happy 'cos of the work I've done today. Especially as it didn't start well. Drill broke in the bit of metal I was drilling. If it was steel I'd have just started again but as it was 18K gold and I only ever buy exactly what I need for the job I had to mess about getting the broken drill bit out. But once that was done the rest of it has gone really well. Of course I'd probably earn more stacking shelves at Tescos...

Autoshite.

Everyone seems to be getting along GR8, we've had some ace new threads, seen some ace 'new' cars and Jon's photography skills are something else.

Schadenfreude. Always makes me grin.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I have here an exceptionally tidy 56-plate Astra, owned by the Sultan Of Oman, and completely gold plated inside, even down to the ashtrays and seat runners. It's said his excellency particularly admired the standard Vauxhall paint and kept it thus...so where shall we start the bidding? Do I hear £50k?"

"You're taking the piss, mate - I know where I can get one for less than £43k..."

Also; free music. And it's actually quite good, in a Biffy Clyro meets classic rock, kinda way. And they're from Dundee, which is just lovely.

Just got an email to say that my resin 1/32 Morris Marina/Ital commission is going to be greatly sped up for half the price.... :D

Took my two rescued guard-puppies to the vet this morning for their first jabs. Tell you what, if I was single a couple of spaniel-cross pups would be the best investment ever! The ladeeez just can't get enough of them!

Oh and the jabs went fine, come back in a month. Both dogs alive and happy when last seen (they are still living at my friend's garage at the moment while I build them a run at my new house).

Been on a good cross country blast to Malvern and back in the Herald today. Its rare these days I get to drive on proper roads. My chosen route is North Circular, A40, M40 to Oxford, A40 as far as Burford, A424 to Stow, B4077 until it meets up with the A46 a few miles from the M5, M5 one junction, M50 one junction, then various minor A roads (past the Regal Garage in Upton) to Malvern. Google makes it 119 miles. The first five miles took 20 minutes. If I take them off my time then I averaged about 55 mph on the way there and that includes a 5-10 minute delay at the start of the M40. After overtaking a tractor at one point on the way back I kept up (a safe distance) behind a BMW TurdDiesel of some sort 'til we reached the next slow vehicle. Blimey, do some people drive quick along sweeping A roads!:wink: I suspect I was feeling more "alive" after that though than the BM driver. Saw some good shite too, including a beige boxy Rover 200 series with the number plate VDP, A Lotus Excel, Reliant Robin and a pre war Riley saloon.

The Ebay Tat thread is making me LOL to an unreasonable degree

Seconded - though with the odd cringey moment...

Have a sniff. Can you smell that? Yup, AUTOSHITE is in the air. I think it might even blossom.

Vulcans rocketh mightily. My father (although a fighter pilot) got a lift in one from England to the RAF base in Italy (can't remember the name). I remember my Dad telling me that the "V-Bombers" scared the shit out of the Russians, as their radar couldn't see them, and their fighters couldn't catch them. The US Navy had trouble seeing them on radar for a time, too.

I can imagine that if you were russian and three v-bombers appear charging towards you'd probably sh*t yourself and get in the bunker

The Vulcan to the sky project is amazing, I was too young to see them when they were actually in service, and thought that I'd missed the Vulcans for good. One day, whilst at a boring as hell sports day it roared over and made my year! :D The noise from those engine and the sheer size of them is staggering.
