Just got every single pointless answer for 'battle or Britain aircraft' :-) Glad to see my pre teenage years weren't entirely wasted.

I didn't, but I enjoyed the mental image of a Lancaster being used as a fighter.

They didn't have much of a chance on that one and were rubbish on the ww2 songs as well as it turned out!

I was working in a recycling place today and spotted three Dyson DC04s with the bit we need for ours. tmp-cam--245125870.jpg

They are £5 a pop on eBay and the last one I got didn't fit because Dyson seem incapable of making two parts the same.

I spoke to someone who used to design Dysons who cheerfully admitted to me that they designed parts of them to fail just out of warranty so people would buy new ones.

The year is 2016, the place Iceland (the shop before any comment :-)) "I can't find any crispy pancakes, have you got any?"

"no, they don't make them anymore" says the bloke that works there.

Today, at home, spam through the post for Farm foods. Page 2 ,Findus crisp pancakes, mushed beef one and cheese ones!!!!

Yay! Fuck you Iceland bloke I'm going to another crap shop for my extra crap 70's food!! :-)

There was a big outcry on FB recently when they moved them to another factory, could have been what he was thinking of.

They can make them in China for all I care so long as they're bright orange and go really hard when cooked :-)

Thinking about it didn't findus go bust?

I used to love them as a kid, not sure I would touch one now though.

Yep! I've had 2 dc25s in this week with dead brushroll motors. The parts and my fee come to £75. However ebay have brand new genuine heads for £35...

Thise wand latches are a different size from the dc04 or dc07, which may explain that

Much about them here.

There was a Findus factory on Tyneside that IIRC was closed due to bacterial contamination.

I had some of these fuckers for my tea last night:

They make crispy pancakes seem like a night out at the ritz. There was nowt in the freezer apart from them, and I only bought them to wind our lass up who was practically gipping at the sight of them in the shop.

Fancied a wee snack at work...I had one and a half slices left of a loaf from a fortnight ago, still with no green bits on it, so it goes into the toaster...and found some butter in the work fridge with a "best before" of 24 Jun on it, but still tastes ok...that'll do!

You should change your username to E'coli

That would be E.Coli, (Escherichia coli) which usually in its benign form is what makes up a great proportion of shite, whereas M'coli has a soft "M" and sounds more like "mi" like in the mi-na-mi-na part of a Muppets song, and the coli bit should sound like a breed of shepherd's dog.

It was my dad's idea as being a phonetic of our surname...

Like the look of them hamwiches, I'd honestly demolish those. Probably in a sandwich.

Horse, dog or tiny bacteria notings going to stop me getting those crispy pancakes now, cooking them far too much then regreting eating them!

This week I've also had some jammy wagon wheels and some jaffa cakes after a fish finger sandwich. When you're poorly you can eat crap, it's the law.

I like food but I'm really very much not a snob about it - I know good food and mostly eat actual proper decent food (I'm subscribed to a monthly "top quality meats" hamper delivery ffs), but I'm not ashamed to enjoy a 75p microwave doner kebab or a rustlers burger for lunch at work.

But these are honestly way worse than anything. At the time of actually putting them in your gob they taste cheap but not that bad, but you pay for them for hours after.

I just like the idea of a hamwich sandwich.

Those sub-quid doner kebabs are class, I love the way you microwave them with the "salad" in so you get green snot along with the brown meat substitute.

I love those. Along with the crispy pancakes, jetters and the and Turkey Dinosaurs. My freezer looks like a 90s council estate teatime

Already this year, our town volunteer fire brigade has had to attend some quite intense calls but of the two I attended yesterday, the second one put a smile on my dial:

Cat stuck up a tree! Couldn't get the truck close enough to use my first choice of extraction (squirt it with the hose reel) but sending a crew member up the tree with a pointy stick made the cat decide it was time to jump down to the safety of the tarp blanket below.

Not before said cat took a horrendously long pee from the tree, accurately dousing the owners' Iphone, sat on a bench below!

I thought I was going to have bother, as the Halfords website seemed to be having an FTP today, but the confirmation came through quick enough. I've had problems in the past with my email address being seen as spam by some online retailers for some reason. Have you tried their "Trade Hotline" 01527 513384, might be worth a shot?

Was in the Co-op earlier and on the way out something caught my eye on the table full of old books by the exit.

post-3133-0-74231600-1487799928_thumb.jpg

I have never really paid much attention to the table before, but a bit of investigating it seems its a charity book table where if you see something you like, you pay a 'generous ddonation' and take it.

Slightly unsure of what a 'generous donation' was I paid £2.

Got home, looking at the book, I notice this on the back cover:

So I paid more than it cost new. Typical.

I am also pretty sure I have this book at my mums house but she's probably binned it TBH.

Still a right result though.

Technically, yes, if there's a prosecution or some sort. In most cases though, no. Over 80% of firefighters are volunteers and we don't receive any payment; even if someone does get charged for services, it would go into central coffers, on the basis that volunteers are supplied with stations, appliances, equipment etc. Therefore, although we probably have more opportunities to charge than currently occurs, what's the incentive at a local level? There's enough paperwork as it is, for a start!

That all sounds very negative but not one bit; I love doing it, as do others and I like the notion that enough people are willing to join up to make the whole set-up work on a nationwide scale. Not much other way of doing it outside major towns and cities, really.

Took the ZX for MOT this morning:

Get in! I think the advisory is because I think the tester didn't wait for the glowplug light to go out before starting it.
