Just saw my old Delica in Tescos car park.  It's been ages since I've seen any of my old motors trundling around - good to see it's still going.

Yesterday was a good day

Registered with AO.com to be a product tester and got an email back within 4 minutes, and have an AEG UltraCaptic on the way 4 free!

I chose the ugliest, most expensive one out of the 3 options given to me, such is the autoshite way!

Also had an email from ITV scouting for people with weird hobbies to be on some upcoming game show. Sent my form off!

The quite annoying lady who phoned me thought it was wierd, I told her a few times that there's quite alot of people who do it, then there's people who collect old cars, some having 10-20 etc. She either put her surprise on or had no clue. I think the latter! Apparently there was a pilot filmed in the US that featured an american collector (I think I know who too) who can identify machines by their sound blindfolded. I did put in my application form that I can't do that though, so we shall see. I can diagnose a blocked Dyson at 50 paces, but sound pitch is no good for me due to my shit hearing!

I know I wasn't the first choice, as one collector (the bloke I first thought 'why didn't he get asked') did get asked, and declined, the second bloke (who has been on the telly a bit before) is on holiday, so I must have been down the list a bit! Meh, if someone's offering me 15 mins of fame, I'll whore it. Hope they don't need me this month though, I have to pay travel costs, skint atm! Best put some fine veg in the zx then I can drive there...

Dave - https://plus.google.com/communities/110063845870597339119 , I emailed customerreviews@ao.com, mentioned and linked to my youtube channel, blog and some of the larger refurb threads on manchestervacs I've done and got a reply. Have 7 days apparently to do a video and written review, so will need to get on it when it comes. Thinking of doing a full unboxing video, then a general use one, then hammer out a mahoosive writted review depending on the character count. Can 'apply' once every 6 months, so wether it's this easy or not in the future I do not know

More contact from ITV, they want to skype call me on Sunday afternoon and do a blindfold sound test with 10 cleaners, see if I can recognise them by sound

Amys gonna bloody love that, she'll need to turn them on and off...

This is my 10 I think

Hoover Turbopower
Electrolux Dolphin
Hoover Compact
Hoover Sensotronic
Hoover 375
Hoover 119
Goblin Commander
Miele S5
1200W Constellation
Hoover Aquatronic

I might get some practise in! They asked if I could do all 40, I had to explain that 16 of those are all Hoover Turbopowers of different colours and trim, but the same motor, same with the Electrolux Dolphins and DC01's etc. And I'm not good enough to tell an Amtek DC01 apart from a YDK one tbh

I've never seen it apart from a tiny bit but some bloke on you bet was once guessing are from their back lights. Always thought it was a bit of a cheat as most have a make molded on them.

That's the one, but now called Go for It with Stephen Mulhern. I'd best watch You Bet to know what I'm getting myself in for!

I think there was a contestant on You Bet who identified cars just by listening to their doors being shut.

That's some serious beardage! At least I have half a chance with pitch and speed and whatnot of a motor.

Or I cheat and bring all 16 of my Turbopower 1's on, which all have an identical 410w motor in different coloured casings apart from one which is 1200w and shit

Years ago I remember watching a game show where one contestant had to recognise ten cars from the crushed cubes. I reckon I could do that. I think I could also recognise cars just from the door handles or electric window switches. God, that would be a dull game show.

That was You Bet as well.

I remember a child who could tell the car from the tyre marks

Perhaps there is a spot for Cav to smell a slightly used corsa whilst blindfolded

Why don't you suggest that they do a Laguna II based show?  Ten Shiters set off from Lands End in a DCi automatic Laguna. In the unlikely event that any of them reaches John O'Groats (or indeed Bristol) without a FTP, they win a million pound cash prize.

That's the only one I remember. wasn't the bloke a forriner (German I think)?

Around three years ago, I bought some new fancy new component speakers to fit to the mazda. I finally got round to fitting them yesterday, the sound quality is so good that when I put a bit of Pink Floyd on to test them, I ended up sitting in the car (in the garage, with the roof down) and listening to the whole album :)

Would be cheap for them too, each winner of their show gets £1000. They would get change out of £1k for 10 laguna 2 dci automatics and a bacon roll!

I've just finished Retro Japanese 2. You lot had better like it this time. There are two beige Sunny estates and a Stanza just for starters. And some actually desirable stuff too.

How did he recognise minis? Camacs were too hard to ever leave any sort of mark even if you had blowtorched them.

Hydronumatic suspension is great. Floods at bottom of the road. Cars turning round. I sat and watched it a short while and decided it could be crossed. Suspension on intermediate high and went through slowly. Back down to standard height and no wet feet!

I used to love doing that in the xm!

It rained so hard today that town flooded in various places, the roof fell in on the server room of Travelodge head office (order next door neighbor works there and she was home by 2pm), amys just gone to get a kebab and their still pumping roads out
