What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Years ago I used to knee out arse off the seat when road riding. I was cool as poo me! :)

Until the night on the roundabout at Yelverton where my knee/arse were quickly followed by my arm, leg, back...  I became a bit more circumspect on the road after that :)

I did arse off seat, knee down on my old Kwak 50cc every chance I could until one night I hit a patch of diesel, headed back first into a railing with the bike closely following crashing into me

Today I have been mostly fitting an electric cooling fan to my mates mk3 cortina, took the borked viscous fan off, only to find the 14" slimline fan won't fit in between the water pump and radiator as the pulley bolts hit the motor, i found this out after cutting the threads off the end of the shaft, so I put it on the opposite side as a blower then trimmed the housing at the bottom of the fan so it cleared the front body crossmember and job was a good one, fitted a lovely fan controller in an alloy housing as I don't like those capillary controller because they never seem to seal right, then wired it up, it now can sit in traffic as long as it wants, next job electric fuel pump and regulator

Spirited scenic drive back from Skye today. When faced with a road tunnel there's only one thing to do- wind the windows down and floor it.

Nice! I once lead 10 e30s through this just after 4 TVRs going in the opposite direction had made a noise that made my tummy go all squiffy.

I misread that, I thought you'd wound the windows down to hear your Scenic through the tunnels - I was wondering how enjoyable a 1.9dTi could be!

This is where I was camping.

But what's that in the background? No, not the hills, closer than that. There's a definite aura of win. Let's have a closer look.

Camping in Sydney Opera House with a 30 year old Peugeot, I knew I could sense win.

Driver's side floor of the Princess FINISHED and even BEIGE.

Technically that's all the MoT fail rust cured, though I will be welding up the rust advisories that have become holes on the passenger side when I next have a couple of hours spare. There's surprisingly little to do on the passenger side.  After that there's the boot floor corners to resolve (that's a petrol tank off job), a small patch on the driver's outer sill and welding the rear sill section onto the bottom of the front wing since it turns out the profiles are a good enough match.

I'm feeling dead chuffed about this.

Just bought a generator, only a small one but it cost 8 quid an it works so I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

Wire it into your starter motor, put the solenoid on a push switch on the dashboard, you've got an eight quid hybrid!

just taxed my Messerschmitt for the first time since 2000. My Post Office had never dealt with a MoT exemption form before. I was hoping they'd say no so I could argue with the DVLA as the car after mine on the production line still exists and was registered in Nov 1959, whereas my car was registered 8 Jan 1960.

Rightly so, that's a grand job and a significant milestone passed.  I reckon we can even forgive you the lack of photos ;-)

Edit - just seen the News 24 thread, so nothing to forgive.

On my travels courtesy of Metrobus and reached Clacton on sea. Just sweet talked the young girl behind the counter to change my room for one with a sea view. It makes me feel as though as I'm holiday but I'm being paid for it! Just off for a wander down the sea front then chips for tea.

Small things.

i'm 41 years old, and have finished work in good time especially so that i can watch the new clangers on cbeebies....

and yes, they aren't quiet the same, the production is slicker, better sets and the like, but it is also the same, wee knitted charicters and swanny whistles.

i liked it alot.

so much better than the usual brain rotting fair on kiddies telly (in the night garden, anyone?)

I have had dents removed from my car, it washed by some very nice men from the Czech republic (they did an excellent job) and then taken three dogs and two women to the beach!

In the night garden got on my tits, not even Derek Jacobi on narrating duties could help me put up with it for long.

My two are too old for that now and are in to Octonauts (OK - ish) and Kratt Brothers (?) some shite about animals anyway which seems OK but the youngest has just started on fucking Paw Patrol - the most annoying voices since that bloody chipmunk thing - it drives me nuts.

Sorry, wrong thread.   As you were.

I know I've moaned about Flickr's image recognition technology but I've just discovered the so called 'magic view' that lets you see your photos grouped by category and had to chuckle at some of its classifications. I have no photos of boats but under the tag 'boat' are seven buses and most bizarrely an Allegro  It also thinks a Metrobus is a building. although admittedly they're very boxy things that look not unlike a block of flats on wheels.

I'm looking at mine - I have a typewriter keyboard and an old bus safety notice listed as 'food:other', and a railway line as 'sport'.

Of all the things you'd want an anti-ageing anything to be, hot is not up there on the list really.  New, Boots soldering iron, just BURN the wrinkles away!
