What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Seeing about 10 modern Beetles this morning going to and from the dentist in Ally Pally, most of the were cabriolets   :-D  :-D

There is or was a golden rule, that beige cabriolet versions were always driven by proper stunners.

Still the case?

Well if you're going to fix stuff other people complain about, your header picture isn't in a high enough resolution for my computer.

Some miniature chod diecastage was ordered from the Home Of The Brave* back in November, as a nice little stocking filler for myself at the 2014 festive season.

The parcel arrived in ye olde Blightye on December 10, according to the USPS tracking service, which is jolly good, I must say.

However, no attempt to deliver it was made, neither did I receive a notification that an attempt was made in my absence.

When I inquired, I was notified that the parcel had been RTS.

I filed a complaint and in typically British fashion was told 'we're sorry, but sod off'.

Allegedly they also sent a nasty message to my local post office manager (who certainly is not to blame) to better look after his clients.

I just so happen to be on very good terms with him and gave him a quick jingle to ask whether he received such a message, which he didn't,

so this was a lie as well as them being sorry.

I notified the vendor and when he received the parcel back (within six days, a performance I hadn't hitherto experienced), I paid him the postage again to re-send the parcel.

Hence I now sent the following message to the Royal Mail complaints office and CCed EIIR:

Dear Mr XXXX

The inadequacy of Royal Mail to handle what should be a rather routine procedure for a company being in this business for 499 years
has now cost me £25.37 additional postage for having the parcel re-sent.
I wish to claim this amount, since this was caused purely because of total failure on behalf of Royal Mail.

Please advise where I have to direct my claim to.

Many thanks for your assistance in this matter. It is much appreciated.

With almost best regards

No idea, but I am as ever, quite hopeful.

The cabriolets that I spotted were parked and driveless, apart from one but I don't seem to recall blonde or stunning. I was behind another black Beetle saloon the other day. It was a bloke driving it and he was almost bald. Mind you, that could have been my reflection. Ah no, his car had 3 hubcaps. Mine has none.

Much better, no visible pixels.

FuGuttycars:your resolution is our concern:)

Good luck with that , Junkman.

If you do find a sensible name to actually sue, successfully, I'd love to know.

It just goes to show

A) How much of an advanced design the Allegro was, or:

B) How little imagination modern designers have!

Just found this 7000 pages of French scrap pictures, seems to go back 10 years. Don't understand what the fuck it's all about,i it's in furrin. Don't care, pictures are amazing.

Its a brilliant thread and forum that.

Also worth having a look at this thread - http://www.forum-auto.com/automobiles-mythiques-exception/youngtimers/sujet343125.htm- which is another 2000+ pages of dead French cars from 1980 onwards

Car insurance renewal time!

They obviously class the meriva as higher risk than the zx! Don't think the zx is even worth £270 now!

Down to £95 per month for the pair though, not gonna argue with that!

I had to stroke those side panels on the first Cactus I encountered. Strange compulsion I know, but the salesman was laughing about how many people had done that!

I'm not really sold on the design of it though. It's practical enough, but the knowingly ironic retro-modern looks are sooooooooo Tumblr hipster.

Goes on the 'maybe' pile for future.

Is that bad? I only have 4 years ncb due to me never letting a policy run it's course when I was younger, so didn't start to accumulate NCB until a few years ago. Amy only has 3 due to her only beign a named driver on her ex's policy, and him being a twat so she was at 0 when I met her...

I think it's quote good, was £180 a month when we first started the multicar policy

There's a cactus on the estate where I work, and me and my colleague both agree that whilst it's a stupid modern citroen, it's great! Will deffo try and own one in 10 years time if they ever fall into shite territory/last that long! We thought that about the Dacia Duster too but realised that it would probably end up like smart cars and stay too highly priced even when fucked/old

My multicar was £270 for my Focus (8 years ncb) and £320 for her Touran (0 years due to it rolling down a hill and hitting a Volvo*) so just shy of £600 total. I couldn't work out the reasoning - 140bhp, no ncb only slightly more than loads of ncb and 100 bhp. But looking at the bigger picture, the total wasn't bad for two cars with business cover.

(* Don't worry SVM, it was a modern one. No good Volvos were hurt. Please don't put a cylinder head on my pillow)
