What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I'm watching some sort of ABBA in concert thing from 1979 on CH5.  I actually believe it's physically impossible not to fancy Agnetha.

Nah, I've always been more fond of Frida (or Her Serene Highness Princess Anni-Frid Synni Reuss of Plauen to give her full title these days  ) - Agnetha has weird teeth and a crooked nose. If you ever get the chance, listen to Frida's solo stuff to really appreciate her amazing voice. Sadly at the age of 68 after three husbands she's not looking too good these days so I wouldn't, but if I had a time machine...

I recently took my Avantime to kwikshit to have the aircon regassed where they declared it broken and not holding pressure. As a result I've sweated my way through that hot spot we had a few weeks ago in what is basically a motorised green house (good news is my tomatoes are doing well).

I'm about to head off to cort sr's for a bit and didn't want cort jr melting in the car on they there so found a mobile guy on the internet who sounded like he knew his stuff but his van has snapped it's timing belt the day before. I ended up going and getting my aircon regassed out the back of the van while the garage removed that knackered cylinder head. The guy did a 30 minute vaccuum test on system and declared in top notch condition (other than it not working) then recharged the system. All for £40 and its working perfectly. He really knew his stuff unlike the kwik fit drone who just attached it to an automated system.

Just a quick reminder to myself to give kwik fit a bypass in the future.

I've got this booked in for saturday, owned by a nice old dear who loves it dearly. Apparently she's had it since '91, so hopefully after i tickle it with the magic sparkler it should see her to the grave.post-5712-0-27382000-1409081656_thumb.jpg

Just been described as charismatic on flickr... never even spotted the spotter spotting me :(

Don't get too excited, your average bus-spotter probably has a different definition of charismatic ;)

How can you recognise a charismatic bus spotter?

He's the one that looks at YOUR shoes while he's talking to you.

Awesome, sounds like some sort of automotive human centipede.

A cheque for £440.96 and also your loan is closed - It was outstanding £460.16 in July so some good luck for a change.

They "made a mistake so it was time to erase that mistake" they said.

Help pay off the dogs at Scottish Power a dam site easier/earlier so swings and roundabouts.

Have two new housemates.

So far the stove's baffled one of them, and the other's taken 45 minutes to make an omelette.

A nice drive to Lincoln and back today, via Scunthorpe, in the DS. I went on the cliff road, through Kirton, and the DS's trick suspension made the v bumpy road as smooth as you like :-D

Took Mrs_L's Mazda to a local garage for service and MOT. All good so far.

When I went to pick it up I noticed a two tone blue Talbot Alpine hatchback in the bodyshop being restored (along with VW T2 Westfalia and Austin A40 or something similar).  Anyone here or are there more old car wierdos about than we think?

Thats what I thought but Benjy says not.  Garage said the owner also has a Solara so it means that there are as yet undiscovered Talbot fetishists out there. Excellent.

Oh impact driver, how did I ever get anything done without you?  It is my new favourite tool.

I've been back in the country 4 days and have almost got a new contract, interview passed, vetting tomorrow.

It's a nationwide role so lots of driving @ 45ppm, yay!

The only cars I have currently on the road are the Boring diesel and a 35yr convertible Lancia with a holey roof. I think I may need to buy an alternate backup motor to the Lancia .... I'll take any excuse to buy another cheap motor.

Does anyone fancy going to look at the Tipo dizzler near Manc on the blue forum for me?

I bought a NOS locking fuel filler cap for the Saab - the years of driving around with undefended petrol are over :-)

I've had one in my toolbox for years, a 1970s one my Dad gave me as he had no use for it.  I've never, ever used it as an impact driver and had forgotten about it until trying to get the seized screws out of a brake disc that hadn't been touched in 6 years a couple of weeks ago.  I should have saved 20 minutes of cursing and frustration chewing up the screws with an assortment of regular screwdrivers, a few bashes with the impact driver and they popped out no problem at all.

I lost my filler cap the first time I filled up. It was still locked by the flap, but the Internet suggested I was driving a ticking bomb and losing fuel, so I bought a universal cap.

Works go kart evening tonight.

I hadn't been in a go kart for 10 years and weigh too much so was targeting upper mid table mediocrity as respectable.

Out of 30 people I get 2nd overall and fastest lap of the night, result.

Too much wasted time spent playing on F1 games and Need for Speed has finally paid off.

Turns out I meant an electric 'rattle gun'.  The old fashion hit-it-with-a-hammer impact driver I had was superb, a true scrapyard friend, but I have no idea what happened to it.
