What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I have been greatly pleasured by Dugong today, for the stack of CAR magazines have arrived. Christmas period reading material: sorted.

This fellow has been one of my heroes since the early 90's.

Now what happened to Martyn isn't particularly grin worthy but the video is amazing and so is the story behind it.

IIRC this isn't even the first time he's done it - didn't he break his back several years ago as well? He is an utter legend though (along with Hawyes) and I could watch the first Road Bike video indefinitely with my jaw on the floor.

I'm sure that's not the first time Dug's greatly pleasured somebody.

If you thought that the old Ladies (and men) were lethal on the footpath, Toyota have

now made driving easy.

My ex in Finland strongly refutes this.

Getting one up on a true smug, twat-faced, fussy-bearded, faux-rugged, complete and utter wanker.

Childish, petty, but god it feels good.  :-D

I spotted Explosive_Cabbage (Will) of this parish out & about in his Lada Samara this afternoon :-)

Are you sure you saw him and you didn't just hear the sonic boom his Niva makes as he blasts round the dales at such speeds?

Sought after Otto Mobile Saph Cosworth finally arrived at work today after ordering it through the club about a month ago.

MR_LOBSTER tells me these are selling out really quick. Don't know whether to lob it on eBay for a Christmas Eve finish (apparently bidding goes mental) or whether I chance my arm with it and take it with my Dinky \ Corgi cack to the Reebok on Dec 29 - unless someone wants to make me an offer?

Speaking of turbos, our own Captain Slow took me for a spin in his new motor and by golly it was quick.  I don't know if I'm allowed to tell you all what it is yet, so you'll have to guess.  I declined the opportunity to take it for a spin on account of my driving ability being of an insufficient standard to prevent myself from torque-steering into the nearest ditch.

@Vulgor, now we know it is turbocharged and FWD. I guess SAAB.

Captain slow, torque steer, my first thought was T-series, but that may be a tad new for him, so I'll guess Montego turbo

It's apt for the topic too, cos it does make me grin like a village idiot on happy pills. 2.3 Turbo, slant-nose, 200bhp. Goes like a stabbed rat coated in jet fuel and lit with a flamethrower.

Or at least it did for 2.5 days. It's lost boost - not all but most. My thoughts are either wastegate stuck open or a filthy APC valve, but we'll see what we find. It's not going anywhere any time soon...

And it's temporarily double shite. Check out that nearside back door - which Angyl's brother later snapped a big piece of paint off. It comes with a free spare which needs painting.

Cruising up the A12 this morning in lovely sunshine, Led Zeppelin playing LOUD, enough space between the slowies to pull in and let the naughty Essex boys and girls wizz past in their Audis and Beemers with dirty number plates whilst I hovered around the legal limit. Lunch with my dear old mum and then the return journey which wasn't so nice, a bit like driving through a waterfall all the way between Chelmsford and home.

Sudden mince pie craving had to be answered but the cupboards were bare!  I got some, then on my way back I got distracted by being in a comfy, well-behaved car and empty roads.  Now that I can actually see where I'm driving, it was jolly good fun going for a bit of a wiggle on local back roads with nobody else about.  That's what owning old cars is all about.

He must have just been unlucky they stopped him, instead of the thousands of other wankers who use the M56 on a daily basis. It surely must be the most densely populated with tailgating bellends motorway in Britain.

Mrs L entered some charity raffle for a quid, first prize being a rather lavish Christmas hamper. Only bloody won it and it is excellently filled with seasonal nom nom nomming.

Non motoring content.

Go away for a week tomorrow with family, so decided to have a 'me day' today and warmed this old girl through. Did about 3 miles on my tod, not much traffic to hold up, wonderful sunlight... fab. Well in the holiday mood now.
