A good memory from when dad was alive just popped into my head.

He told me "I got a spare XUD, it's behind the shed"

I go to look behind the shed, wondering if it's perhaps a turbo one.

There's just a large rusty anvil

I return to dad and say "I can't find it, just an anvil"

"Exactly" he says

Was asked to look at a transit in need of a smidge of welding.

Chap that asked me to look at it said it was just a " hole in the sill"

Knowing how shit these vans are for rot I expected more. And that this was going to be a waste of time, but went and found said van. Its fucked.

Owner say it needs a  "whole sill"

Kinda Close I guess!

I suppose this fits into the "grin" category.  My landlady came round today (well yesterday now) with her husband to continue the upgrades to my heating system and also to sign some updated tenancy paperwork - she had warned me several times (quite apologetically) that she would have to put the rent up (which was fair enough given that it hadn't gone up for a couple of years and was still below the market rate), so I was expecting quite a chunky increase.  She's put it up by £70 a month, which is actually less than the extra I'll have in my pay packet from this month from my pitiful payrise and the fact that I've finished paying for the bike I bought on the Cycle to Work scheme last year.  So I'm not going to be any worse off (at least not from that perspective - other bills are of course going up as well).

So that's a relief, and a much needed bit of good news this week.
