If that was the case I'd be right down there protesting with everyone else!

Actually the guy who owns it works near me and I've seen it before... he also has several other old US motors including an early '50s Caddy 62 coupe which must be worth a fortune... and an Edsel.

Picking up this really rather nice & mint Pentax P30n with zoom lens at a carboot for £6 yesterday made me day.

I like my digital camera photography but quite fancy playing around with something a bit more 'manual' Just need to work out all it's functions.

Getting a Gregory today from Direct Line for the agreed value of Katie's wrecked car. Result, and in less than 3 weeks.

I saw a sight I haven't seen for too long, a roll up smoking dole scummer wobbling to asda on a racer with upturned bars and bag dangling off them. 1992 called..... :D

OMG! INTERNETZ IS HAPPENIN' AT HOME! About bloody time. Naturally, the 0800 number we were told to phone to find out exactly when our broadband gets activated didn't work. We've gone with TalkTalk, but only until we get our MAC code...

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING POST WILL INVOLVE ME GOING ALL GIRLY!

Went for a scan today to determine the position of the baby, I want a homebirth and (touch wood) this is the last piece of the jigsaw:

Sunday, midwife checked the house for suitablity, we passed!

Tuesday, bloods back ok, not anaemic

Thursday, baby not breech!

Yay! The only stumbling blocks now would be the baby being in distress (and in that case I'll let it off!) or going massively over due.

Not long now

Aww! How long to go now?

Boy or girl?

Louise is definitely a girl. I have met her.

Didn't find out.

I'd like a boy, Matt would like a girl, but either way a baby'll do!!!

Lol, that reminds me of when my son was born, and I was doing the chuffed to bits telling everyone thing... a mate of mine said

"Wow, excellent! What colour is it?"

although we were half cut, and the conversation was usually about cars....

My sister in law gave birth two weeks ago today, She was planning on the home birth and no medication but luckily she went to hospital in the end as there was complications, not wanting to worry you but it's worth thinking about, Luckily everything worked out ok in the end and she had a heathly little boy :D

Awwwwww how cute!

Defo at the first sign of needing to I'll be in the back of an ambulance.

Also I'm a complete wimp so I imagine 5mins in I'll be begging Matt to start up the car and ringing them to prep the epidural!

Excellent news Louise, Can I suggest a few names please?

If she's a girl, how about..

Flavia,

Aurelia,

Dyane (teehee)

Ami (teehee a bit more)

CX... er no.

DS (Actually Deesse means Goddess in French)

Boy?....

Herbert (Austin)

Spencer or Maurice (Wilkes, the inventors of the Land Rover)

Henry,

Nuffield,

Isambard (The greatest engineer this country has known)

Barnes (Wallis)

The list could go on, and so could I. Refuse to bow to fashion. Shite names rule!

Thanks, unfortunately we've decided on names already and the closest I've got to a tribute to shite is the middle name for a boy: Tomos.

Our last three were born at home but my wife had to have some very stern words with the doctor before he would consent to it - first two anyway*.

All went well other than the first was born with the cord wrapped around his neck. The midwife was spot on and sorted that out very quickly.

I hope it is equally smooth - or rather more so, for you Louise.

*the last one he turned to the midwife and said "Oh well, let her get on with it, she has babies like shelling peas anyway"!

Wales has had a big push ('scuse the pun) on homebirths, they were targetting 10% of all births to be homebirths, so there is quite a lot of support and encouragment (although I'm not sure my midwife is mad keen :? ).

I heard a nice quote on the radio about not getting too hung up on having to have a homebirth, it was something like:

"planning a home birth should be like planning a picnic in Britain; plan for a sunny day but always make a back-up plan for when it rains."

I hope it'll work out as I'd like, but not at the expense of safety.

How does that work then, do you have sit in your car eating soggy cucumber butties whilst it pours down and you're waiting for the RAC? :D

Good luck Louise!
