Has anyone got any knowledge of these pinto to rx8 gearbox adaptors? It seems like a great idea given how expensive type-9's are and how many dead rx8's there are.

It's  125 quid for the adaptor and you'd need to buy the box and get custom prop shaft made and there's some fanny around trying to get it to fit but all in all is it going to be that much more expensive

and you get a nice snickety six speed box. WANT,

As I've got bugger all paid work on the shed roofs have been re felted, the hedge has been cut and I managed to find a new wood to walk the dog in that would be fantastic on a trials bike, unfortunately it's owned by a charity so bugger all chance of that ever happening :( the wood was big enough for me to get disorientated in too - we came out about a mile down the road from where we wanted to be!

The dogs tired out for the rest of the day anyway, it was wierd though - supposedly ancient woodland but not a single animal apart from a solitary squirrel, not much bird song either.

A few times recently my shite spotting ability has made me grin.

 

The first was a Dolomite, I spotted it in the distance at night while I was still a fair way behind and said to myself - I'm sure that's a Dolomite.  Back of my mind I knew it probably wouldn't be, I mean what are the odds?  At this range it could be just about anything, but the overall dimness said it was something old and the shape just said Dolomite.  I purposely caught it up and sure enough, a Dolly 1500.

 

The 2nd was a relatively easy spot, a fairly well beaten Capri on the motorway on the way home from work.  I've since seen this on numerous occasions at around the same time so I can only surmise it is someone's daily drive.  Bravo that man.  It looks friggin tiny in modern traffic!

 

And finally this week I spotted a Mk2 Cavalier Estate on the way to work, immediately ID'd at around 500 yards approaching head on.  Then I saw the same one coming out of a house along that road this morning towing a trailer - so it appears this too is still earning an honest living.

Have spotted a lump of woodland at a price I can afford, need to ring the agents tomorrow to find what the catch is or if it's sold already.

Complete with Oak framed timber barn with woodburner and tractor envy if I get my way, actually the neighbouring plot is better from my point of view as it's got a fairly steep sided small valley with permanent stream running down it, hydroelectric power and trials bike practice area combined.

I sold it around 6 years ago and hadn't seen it since. So glad its still going, it really was a delight to drive. 1.3 so quite nippy

I fear it won't be around much longer though. Those wheels were so tatty I stonechipped them! They still look OK now, surprisingly!

Now as it's the grin thread, this weekend couldn't have gone better. She's perfect for me & is delusional enough to think the same about me.

 

How hard is it to move to Bute?

It's a bit of a weird place, the Mount Stewart Trust owns most of it; if you want to do something vaguely out of the ordinary or your face doesn't fit it's not the place to be. Nice enough to visit though. What kind of work do you do? Aside from the boatyard/marina there's really only council/school work, farmwork and seasonal hospitality.

My Spidey Sense dates it around 1987 when every single car on the road seemed to be red.

 

My ma tried to order an Escort LX in 1987 in Maritime Blue because so many cars on the road were red. "Oh, there's a long delay on that. We've got Rosso Red in stock ready to go though".

 

A bit like Silver now, really.

I do IT geekery so I'm expecting a season ticket on the boat/train to get to work everyday.

 

ETA, the new missus lives there & loves it, so if things work out I will end up there.

Would have to be 1988 at the very earliest for that MK2 golf to have wipers the "correct" way around for RHD.  1987 was still using LHD wipers with an oversize wiper on the right to compensate for the lack of swept area.
