Kate & Gerry McCann to open a childminding business. Have a read before the lawyers get it taken down.

Although the comments from "discussed parents" are even funnier than the article.

"Thicker than a whale omlette" is something I'll be borrowing from there.

Set off a speed camera while out on my bike. Obviously I had no idea how fast I was going (officer) until I got home and looked on Strava.

Just flew back from Italy this morning and was delighted* to see this Autoshite style repair to a bit of the plane. If anyone needs a mondeo bumper done, I can give you the name of the airline....

Hope it sticks better on planes than on MR2 soft tops!

My grin for today, other than the MR2 doing 100 miles with ease, is the news that I should have access to a 4 post ramp close to me occasionally. A friend of a friend looks after a farm from time to time with a fully equipped workshop and has said ok to us using it...

Fairly sure you aren't meant to apply filler like that either...

When I was at school, one of the teachers had an HA Viva with filler that looked exactly like that except it had been painted to match the car.

This could only happen in Sheffield... E Highfield must be some sort of ancestor of mine.

Mr Highfield must still be going, my Sheffield MOT man was telling me about a Volvo estate with a lovingly crafted hardwood bumper a couple of years ago.

I went down to the sorting office to collect a package that I had missed being delivered earlier in the week, as I was working in London.

Thank you very much for the gift Skizzer, it should provide some useful pointers.

Still car shopping for Mrs Imp this weekend. She doesn't like the MPVs, she was very keen on the Mondeo and the Mazda 6 though. Get in. I'll look like a right executive go getter when I am allowed to borrow it off her. Or a photocopier salesman, both improvements on my current social status though.

Not really a grin but I'm starting a new job tomorrow and I have to leave extra early due to industrial action effecting my journey time.

Worth mentioning that the industrial action is in the industry I am starting my job in...

Our friends the Reactionary Militant Tallywackers by any chance? Their ability to start fights in empty rooms and fight tooth and nail to prevent rail transport from entering the last quarter of the 20th century is matched only by the Department for Transport.

Yep.

And the first train I'm getting has been cancelled, however not due to a strike as it's GWR FGW whoever they now are.

Good first day so far!

To be fair to the RMT there was a very enlightening post in the railshite (I think) thread giving a lot more detail about the guards duties etc and what the dispute is about. There is a lot more to it than what we are being fed by the media of the driver simply pressing a button to shut the doors on the passengers.

Worth a read if you can find it.

Absolutely. I'm not one for job creation because "it's always been done like that guv" but the thought of just one person being responsible for the safety of hundreds of people on a train is a bit worrying. It's more than closing the door, they have the same safety responsibilities and training as the driver.

Anyway. Yes, the other thread singlehandedly has more facts than most newspapers.

Mrs DR rang to say she had seen a car I would like driving down the road, the description was an American muscle car painted white with twin blue stripes running front to back over bonnet and roof. Apparently not wearing plates either

I'm guessing a Mach 1 Mustang or a Camaro... will go through google images later.

In other grin news...

Bought something hopefully nice to replace the Clio yesterday.

However I left a note on a low mileage 405 XUD yesterday and the seriously elderly owner is barraging me with calls about it now. For his and my sake I am going to call when I'm home and in the quiet, but WTF talk about timing.

Might have a cheap 405 for sale here soon then...

Bought this:

Finally got into the garage to get stuff out that I need and found a brand spanking new alternator I totally forgot I bought for the Rover.

I went out for a ride on my bike this afternoon, whilst booting it along the canal path, I hit a patch of ice and clattered to the ground - if I'd not been wearing a helmet my face would be a bloody mess - I think that justifies a grin :)

Job interview offered.

Only down side is they want a presentation, I don't do public speaking & there is no requirement on the job so I don't get why.

Nope about 'my first 90 days in the role'.

So that's -

I'll find out where the kettle is, learn a bit about how stuff works & when I need to look busy. Not sure about the next 9mins 50secs.
